Should the B1G try to invade the SEC?
And grab Mizzouri and Kentucky as the SEC doesn't have a GOR? If this happened, would the SEC expand and with whom?

The two that best align with the Big Ten's body of large, research intensive, public flagships are Florida and Texas A&M.

I'm thinking geographically contiguous and schools that might think twice about jumping (Mizzouri to be with Illinois and Kentucky to be with Indiana).

Yes. The Big should raid the SEC for all its teams and become a 28 team conference and name themselves the Bigger.
Cheers!

RE: Should the B1G try to invade the SEC?
The hidden secret of conference expansion is that the individual schools have all the power and ultimately make the moves, not the Conferences. Motives vary but make no mistake, the decision is on the individual Universities. Maryland was safely in a P5 but is a basketball school so they moved to a conference they felt they completed better in. Rutgers is a perennial dog in darn near every sport but wrestling, good sport and $ move for them. Tex A&m sought own identity. UofL wanted a Conference to legitimize their efforts and accomplishments. TCU wanted to be with Texas. WVU wanted to prove they could stand on their own. Missouri wanted to validate their value and while the B1G wanted to put them on the back burner, the SEC cast a light on their worth.

It's the individual schools that have the power. Not the conferences.

So far your threads have been about deaths of conferences, which schools will drop football, and this absurdity. Kentucky is nowhere near the academic status that the Big 10 would insist upon, and they had plenty of chances to land Missouri. The Big 10 is interested in the long term. Financial disparity may one day shake a school or two loose more suitable to their profile and those could come from either the East or the West. If the Big 12 blows apart they might get one there as well.

So I guess what I'm telling you right now is that if you come up with another imaginary thread about the demise of somebody's school, conference, or something designed to provoke a response to the absurdity of the premise I'll shut it down, ding you for spamming, and alert the other mods to look hard at the threads you start.

The repetitive nature, and negative style of your threads profiles them as being troll like in nature. If that is not your intention then amend your topics to actual news, events, or to items that are both of an interesting and supportive nature.

Thanks, JR

No. Assuming a 16 school conference is the end game, I'd rather take a wait-and-see approach.
