UCONN women to the WNBA?
Seriously, what else do they have to prove at the NCAA level?

RE: UCONN women to the WNBA?
Honestly...nothing. But the only real thing they have left to prove is if they can do it with a different coach. WNBA would basically be alumni vs current student athletes for UConn.

Geno still has to get 13 titles to break the overall NCAA record, and I am sure he wants to be the winningest coach by the time he is done, which would mean 1,000 wins is the next milestone (he would get there next season).

RE: UCONN women to the WNBA?
The impressive thing about uconn is they lose players who were taken 1, 2 and 3 in last years wnba draft. They are still beating the top ranked teams by 20

RE: UCONN women to the WNBA?
They'd lose by 70 to a team that finished 5th in their conference/district.

But they'd beat a team of the old men posting in this thread. So there's that... 02-13-banana

RE: UCONN women to the WNBA?
The UCONN WBB program will kill CWBB if things don't change. Why watch a sport where you know the outcome of the championship before the season even starts? That would be a monumental drag. I think UCONN WBB needs to get the death penalty for a few years in order to reset the competitive balance of the sport. In fact, you may argue that WBB is preventing UCONN from getting a P5 invite. It's hard to say.

People will watch them to see if the streak ends however, Going against an aac team is obviously a snore fest. But going up against South Carolina is something. If it was in South Carolina it would be a significant something. Somewhere someday someone is going to have a court storming against them as they break the longest winning streak ever.

Yup

The problem right now is that there are not enough talented women for the amount of scholarships given. Women's basketball is allowed to give more scholies than men, with a smaller pool.

It needs to be the opposite - 7-8 scholies MAX for women's BB.

that would spread the talent around.

Let me dispel on a common rumor that UCONN gets all the best players every year...

UCONN has had the #1 recruiting class ONCE in the past decade (2012-Breanna Stewart's class). Geno knows talent when he sees it. He knows how to recruit players that will thrive in his system. It's all about coaching (specifically player development) that has led to the so called "problem" in WBB. No one is Geno's level.

Then he may need to be banned from the college game in order to improve the quality of the sport for all those schools that participate in it. IMHO, UCONN is ruining WBB.

RE: UCONN women to the WNBA?
Probably true to some degree. ^^

No team in any sport should win 100 games straight. That's Like the Harlem Globetrotters playing the New Jersey Generals.

At the same time UConn can't afford to lose it's bell cow program as the other sports seem to go up and down but WBB stay constant. No way UConn can afford to keep the AD afloat if the WBB team falls off to not being the dominant team in the sport.

Agreed. Ban him immediately. Probably before the game tonight would be best.

I know that you're trolling me with your goofy responses. But if you can be serious for a little while - there is something wrong with a guy who doesn't want to move into a more challenging venue. Why not take his approach to the men's game or even better try his hand at the NBA? Something isn't right for a guy to be content to rule a kingdom of women. It's like he's a pimp.

Not sure what you mean by goofy responses.

Geno wanted to move to the men's game years ago.

Doesn't make much sense now as my inside source says he'll retire within 5 years. 07-coffee3

You're welcome.

Your link doesn't bolster his case. In the end, he got cold feet and decided to not pursue it. I guess almost doing something is supposed to hold some value?

No, he was persuaded by his family. I always put my family above anything else. That is why I recently, at the age of 30, moved back to suburban Connecticut (from a great job and living situation in Boston) to be local for my terminally ill father.

You must be a lonely, old man. I feel bad for you.
