RE: ODU game thread.
I dont see a run left in this team. I think it's possible they may come out and play inspired against MTSU and pull an upset next week but that's about it. With as inconsistent and as careless as they play I don't see any way they can win 3 or 4 games in a row during the tournament.

I've seen UAB teams since the 80s win some tournament no one thought we had a chance.

Need a 58-56 speech about now.

The key for starters is not playing the first night.

After that you need the team cutting down on turnovers, defending the 3, & working it to Lee & Cokley.

RE: ODU game thread.
I thought this team had the round of 32 even 16 written all over it. When Norton went down, I thought we will survive it.
I want to offer my apology to Norton. We arent better off, we have a poor assist to turnover ratio, we have noone to make that clutch steal assist or 3 pointer.
I miss your attitude, toughness and leadership, yea I have gotten on to you when you couldnt handle larger guards, but in CUSA you were one of the elite PG and respected by CUSA players and coaching staffs.
I knew the first time I saw you in practice you were special and you have proven to the league, your team and fans you were this teams heartbeat.
Whats wrong with this team, its hardnose solid special PG is missing.
UAB is most sucessful when we have above average PG play, and thats been proven thru out our history.
And I believe without a doubt our PG play isnt good and teams scheme us based on our poor PG play. We will be better next season with improved PG play.
But we will be alright the rest of this season, we have some more games to play and a turnament.
Any of the top teams can win it all in Birmingham why not us.

I haven't used my powers for mere sports in years, but I think some of us have forgotten that we wield a special magic. We gave the Machine their first clear defeat since Wilson's Raiders burned their den of evil in 1865. Winning a few basketball games isn't much next to that.

I will return tomorrow with deeper thoughts. And porn.

I remember going to WKU and winning the whole damn thing when no one gave us a snowballs chance in hell. That was a magical run. What was that, 87? We beat USA, JSU and beat WKU by one or two at their place in the Championship game.

A very good WKU team. We were going to be sitting home that year in the post season had we not won that tournament. Kept our NCAA tournament streak alive.

This team is capable in my opinion. I don't know the mentality of the team, but I hope all the right buttons are pushed to make that run.

RE: ODU game thread.
The team is capable of winning it, but unless I see improvements soon I'm not holding my breath.. we did win 6(I think) in a row against the same competition and the talent is there (despite others saying we aren't talented since we've started losing games).

The difference with this team and the one that won the tourney two years ago is that team had drastically improved over the course of the year, even though we did have two bad Florida losses going into the tourney. This team has probably gotten worse as the year has gone on..

Conference tournaments? Since the 80s? I'm curious. Which ones would those be?

UAB went from 1987 to 2015 without winning conference tournaments.

That was my point. And that ONE we won since the 80s was held in Birmingham. Even at 16-15, most people gave us a chance to win in our hometown.
