Dallas Police Officer Refused Service At Restaurant…
Sad...
Quote:A Texas fast food chain fired their employee after she refused to serve a Dallas police officer last week.
Golden Chick in Dallas quickly terminated their employee after an outpouring of outrage over social media, reports Dallas News.
A patrol sergeant alleged that an employee told him that the restaurant did not serve people like him. The officer asked for clarification and the employee said that the restaurant does not serve officers.

Anyone who decides to serve the public should serve everyone IMHO.

Just don't do that to SJW, they will burn your business to the ground, so tolerant.

I disagree, but that is the Libertarian in me. Personally, private business should be able to serve or refuse service to any person for any reason without legal or civil sanction. That includes what could be completely senseless reasons to exclude minorities, alternate lifestyles, certain career groupings (police, lawyers), religions, etc. It would make such events less controversial if the business posted clearly for whom they would exclude service. In this case the employee appeared to act counter to the owner's wishes, and was rightfully terminated. However, if the owner supported this exclusion, that should be his or her business.
Now, if that exclusion is too far outside of the mainstream, that business should wither away and fail. Pretty simple in my mind, but I loathe when lawsuits are levied when a business owner makes a discrimination choice......it is their business, not the public's, even if the business owner's reasons are completely racist, bigoted, or just downright stupid.

I have no problem with discrimination in businesses. You put yourself IMO in a market paradigm that you probably will regret..but..have at it. You don't want me for whatever reason to eat or shop in your establishment? Ill go somewhere that will..and..I will badmouth you everywhere I go.
It looks like this was an employee...not an owner. They got fired. Cased closed.

A business should be able to serve whomever they want. Employees do not get to make that call.

ODU, it wasn't the business though. it was one employee in the business. IF the employee has a problem serving who the employer says to serve, then you lose your job.

I get that point, and believe in my post I acknowledged as such. We are in agreement.

I think that the business should have served the cop. However, I think that the business should have the freedom to not serve cops if they do please. The same is true for all other groups (i.e. religious bakers not wanting to make wedding cakes for gay couples, etc.). I think that the gov should only step in if there is a systemic problem (i.e. the south during segregation), or if there is an immediate health/safety issue. Otherwise, free market forces should be enough.
