RE: 2018 Official Verbal Thread
I think a big piece of the success is former players turned coaches. Who could peak with greater enthusiasm for the program?

Bolin is visiting Rutgers today. 1% chance he ends up at NIU.

Excellent
He looks pretty good. Hard hitting Safety. I'm sure he like our non- conference schedule (wink wink )

Parker was also the Defensive MVP at the Chicago Showcase in March
Defensive MVP: Miami Carol City safety Kewan Parker had a huge junior season with 96 tackles, 15 stops for loss and 13 sacks. On this day Parker had one-handed interceptions, and showed cover ability as a safety. South Florida and Northern Illinois have offered. This spring evaluation period could be a big one for him.

Rivals has NIU ranked in the top 10 of GO5 programs (#7 and #57 overall, ahead of several P5 programs) so far. Staff must be working their tails off.

Remember....rankings mean nothing. Being 132nd or 32nd, there's no difference. Or at least many here will have you believe that.

The difference between 0-star and 3-star is not much, but more importantly, some of them will probably de-commit at some point since that happens every year, changing the rating significantly. And some of our best teams had top players that weren't ranked highly. But it's at least a good sign that these players have us on the radar.

Where was this after the Orange Bowl?

A lot of you severely overestimate the effect the orange bowl should have had. It was nice to get to that game, but NIU is what NIU is, the Orange Bowl never did and never would have changed that. Why would high rated recruits come to NIU because we participated in a single game? It's been argued so much on this board that I don't even want to bring it up, but please, let it go.

First full year for both coordinators and Melvin Rice. Gotta think they deserve a lot of the credit.

RE: 2018 Official Verbal Thread
I know it's been a frustrating run For the last 13 games or more. Mistakes have been made. Weaknesses of leadership exposed. But is anyone else starting to get a real positive vibe about what the staff is starting to do? Nothing matters until it's proven on the field, but Carey is creeping back into good graces with me. Even if it's ever so slightly and guarded for now.
I know the QB thing is a big negative. But it's the hardest thing in sports to get right. How long have the bears been trying?

Melvins tweet is probably related to Parker.

As stated before, I think the young coordinators along with all the former players on the staff who really have a vested interest in making NIU better is helping immensely. They can sell the program better than anyone, they went here and they won BIG here.
