2016 Taxes
Anyone completed their tax returns yet? I received my last needed W2 last week and knocked them out this weekend. Figured I'd get them in before TurboTax gets hacked again and someone tries to submit a return in my name. Looks like refunds, if one gets one, will be delayed this year for certain filers.

Here's a tip, never file early or on time. Always file for an extension as auditors will almost always select their picks from those that come in early.

PS, just because you ask for an extension does not mean you don't owe the money in April.

At least here in MN, the Mumbling Governor changed some tax laws for the previous year in March. With taxes due in April. Learned my lesson...... do your taxes but don't hit submit until April.

I'll keep that in mind going forward. My personal returns are pretty vanilla which is why I use TTax.

An audit is a fairly rare occurrence any ways.

Be careful saying that.

It's the folks towards the bottom and towards the top that generally get singled out.

Also, write-offs for W-2ed folks generally draw more attention.
