2017 WM baseball season
UNCW drops another one to NC State this afternoon, and find themselves in unfamiliar territory at 3-8 to start the season. Our scheduling to open CAA play with them may be good timing, if they're still sorting things out in two weeks. They open play with back to back weekends against us and Charleston, so, may set the league standings very early. Could all come down to our ending weekend with Charleston at Plumeri in May.

Haha. Have to love those mid-week games with the backup starting pitching.

Yeah, all freshmen in Strain, Goldak and Sara getting the mound work. Freshman 1b Trehub 3-4 at the plate. Future looks bright.

Jamie Sara picks up his first college win. Tribe-19, Hokies-10. I'll take that score next Labor Day.

Great win. I know midweek pitching is spotty but it always feels good to beat the Hokies.

Always a big day when we beat the Hokies in any sport.

For the stat buffs, this was our 6th consecutive win over the Turkeys. Tech leads the all time series, 80-34.

We play again in a couple weeks in Blacksburg.

Okay, so we got swept in a fairly competitive way to Florida and split with ACC and Big Ten teams. Let's roll. This may be a real interesting season if our pitching holds up

We somehow got 11 strikeouts and managed to lose at home to a winless squad.

Lost 10 to some really good teams though. The pitcher was one of the best in the A-10 last year. I'm happy with what Brown did. Bats will wake up.

Baseball, perhaps more than any other sport, has its weird results. In football or basketball it's easy to have hopeless games (many of our P5 games), but baseball always seems like there's a better chance for favored teams to be upset.

Well, we beat Yale today and the bats woke up. Sheehan gave up two solo taters, but pitched well for the second time in a row. We'll take it

Brown and Sheehan developing into perhaps the best 1-2 starting pitching duo in the CAA...they had 20 strikeouts and gave up just 5 runs (3 earned) Friday and yesterday in 14 innings hurled.

Tribe closer didn't do his job. We were up 5-3 entering the 9th. Great come from behind to get 2 of 3 over the weekend.

RE: 2017 WM baseball season
William and Mary, after beating Virginia Tech and Yale (twice) and losing to Maryland and St. Joseph's, comes in at #130 on Massey's composite ranking, with individual rankings as high as 108 (Sagarin) and as low as 166 (RPI). This puts them in the company of Nichols State, Rutgers, Duke, and Cal State Bakersfield. The rest of the CAA:

59 James Madison
127 Charleston
130 WM
137 Delaware
143 Towson
171 Northeastern
184 Elon
189 Wilmington
241 Hofstra

This week WM plays Norfolk St. (251) and Rhode Island (132).
