I had forgotten our Women's team had a game today...that's how far we've fallen in one year.

Maybe, but most of it is the terrible decision to move away from doubleheaders.

Not really. Our Athletic Department doesn't do straight doubleheaders anyway. It's hurt both our Men's and Women's attendance trying to put them together. No one is willing to go to a 5pm Women's game, and fewer are willing to go to a weekday Men's game that might not start till 8pm. We were one of the primary backers behind moving away from the DH's.

I forgot our Women's team played because 1, it was a road game, and 2 they are really bad.

But very very young.

And very very injured. I think we're down to 9 players right now. Finished with 6 against Troy.

I feel bad for them, but I have no sympathy for our coach not figuring out a way to manage the recruiting classes several years ago when he looked ahead and knew this was coming. Put all his eggs in the "Win now with the best player in program history basket" and flopped.

Doubleheaders will be back sooner rather than later

Doubleheaders will be back sooner rather than later

We've got this system for at least 2 years and then the AD's will get back together again. Doubleheaders help schools like Monroe, but they hurt some of the larger programs who have enough of a fan base that they can draw for Women's basketball.

Weeknight doubleheaders are a mess to staff, and terrible for fans.

App leads UTA 23-10 with about 7 minutes left till half.

Mavs couldn't throw it in the ocean from the boat.

App leads UTA 32-24 at half. Ugly game outside of Shabazz who has 21 points

UTA comes back to blow away App in the 2nd half.

Coastal up one on Texas State with 9 minutes left. Georgia State leads Troy early, and ULM leads AState by 1 at halftime.

Texas state wins at coastal. 52-50

Big win for us. Through 2 games with Coastal I'd say our teams are very, very evenly matched. Something like 16 lead changes today. Hopefully the 300 mile bus trip up a mountain to Boone doesn't affect us for Monday night vs. App.

AState beats ULM 73-63 behind a solid 2nd half performance.

Trip to Lafayette on Monday where we haven't won in a long time.

Georgia State defeats Troy, so all three of AState, UTA, and GSU remain tied for 2nd place in the league standings at 6-2. Texas State is in 5th at 5-3

TXST is good at going .500 for the weekend

So is the resurgence of stAte basketball just screwing up everything for everybody?

Seriously though, I am so happy to see us back to a 2 sport school. Well, maybe 3 since the track and field team is doing fairly well. But that baseball program...

Baseball has been a lot more consistent over the last 7 or 8 years. Just don't have any money in the program to compete with the big boys.
