I've never understood why putting an embassy in West Jerusalem should have been controversial outside of Arab countries. It is within the 1967 boundaries.

I had no idea Hamas was still around.

Moving it to Jerusalem is just provocation.

Is there some strategic or monetary benefit to having it in Jerusalem vs Tel Aviv? If there isn't then this just seems like stirring the pot.

I don't see a real benefit to doing this now.

Jerusalem is where Israel's capitol is. Being in Tel Aviv is inefficient.

Well you could use it as a carrot or a stick. A stick to stick in the eye of the Palestinians for being recalcitrant or a carrot to get Nethanyahu to cooperate and reduce provocative actions.

Jerusalem is the capitol of Israel, the world doesn't get to dictate what the capitol of a sovereign nation is. A lot of people don't realize that has been the case with Jerusalem and Israel for decades.

Imagine us saying our Capitol is in DC, but the whole world refused to acknowledge it in protest. Now imagine your whole nation is the size of NJ.
