Halfway Through
With Thursday night's games the CAA regular season is halfway through save for the makeup game the William and Mary and Drexel have to play next Monday. I don't think the team positioning is that surprising - UNCW at the top Delaware and Drexel bring up the rear. Perhaps Hofstra joining those two at is bottom is somewhat surprising.

I think what is surprising is the individuals who rank high atop (and who doesn't) the scoring list at this point. Looking at the conference-only stats, none of the preseaon All-CAA 1st teamers (Flemings, Brantley, Adala Mota, Gustys, Prewitt) are even in the top 10 scorers. For the whole season, only Flemmings is in the top 10. None of those players leads their team in scoring either - Gustys is fifth on Hofstra's team. Granted Gustys is more known as a rebounder, but his scoring has dropped significantly from last year even though the team lost most of their scoring. In addition to Gustys, other members of the preseason 2nd team and honorable mention teams that don't even crack the top 30 scorers in conference games: Shakir Brown, Cameron Johnson, Mike Morsell, Chivarsky Corbett, Yohanny Dalembert, and Jeremy Miller. Only Morsell is only the list if all games are considered.

That TJ Williams, Justin Wright-Foreman, and Ryan Daly would be three of the top four scorers through the first half of conference games I don't think would have been predicted by anyone. Probably only Williams would have been considered even after the OOC was completed.

Looking to the second half, it will be interesting to see how things go. It is a good time to be a Seahawk fan. The team will have a shot at an at-large should they stumble in the tourney. Devontae Cacok appears to have a good shot at setting the NCAA field goal % record - although one bad night can take you down pretty quick when you shoot that high a percentage. They probably have three guys in Ingram, CJ Bryce, and Flemmings who could make arguments for player of the year.

There is a lot of parity in the rest of the league. I'm looking forward to see how it all shakes out.

Will be interesting to see where JMU goes from here. Dalembert unfortunately is injured and done for the year, they just suspended 2 of their Asst Coaches for 2 games (last game and this one), and a team manager was also recently fired or quit. Could be what they need to finish out the season reasonably or could lead to the team falling apart.

Most seen to assume Daly is a lock for freshman of the year. Do not be surprised if Riller beats him out. He has been explosive since he took his knee brace off about 7 games ago and after Thurs the front runner to win rookie of the week again and match Dalys 4
