Louisville's visit to Clemson on May 12, 13 & 14 is shaping up to be a big showdown between the two best ball clubs in the Atlantic Division. Should be a great series.

Louisville 14 Eastern Kentucky 4.

Brendan McKay hits 4 home runs, and drives in 9 RBI. The 4 homers in a game ties a 40 year old school record. Wow.

Cards are now 34 - 6 on the season.

Play Northern Kentucky tomorrow night at Louisville Slugger Field, where the ACC tourney will be played later this year.

How many guys that you know of that can pitch, hit & play defense? Sounds like a modern day Babe Ruth.

There are 15 active Division I coaches with 1,000 career wins. Five are #ACCBase coaches.

Very cool. This prompted me to look up Dan McDonnell at U of L. Before this season started, he had a record of 456 - 191 in ten years. Counting this season to date, that would bring him up to 490 - 197.

So it looks like he'll need another 10 years or so to crack the 1000 win mark, at least at his current pace.

O'Connor at UVa has over 600 wins and could reach 1000 in less than 9 years. He also has a national championship. Miami's coach is the only one to win a national championship (when Miami was independent) but he retires next year.

Cards fall behind 4 - 0 early, but rally behind two Drew Ellis home runs, to win 6 - 4.

35-6 on the year. Host Toledo for a series this weekend.

RE: Open Thread - 2017 Baseball Season
The ACC is top heavy this year but does not appear to have NCAA quality depth in the middle like most years. At the moment only 6 teams are projected to make the field, and I don't see a great candidate to be #7 barring a late surprise run or an unexpected auto-bid. That means Miami's 44 year NCAA streak is in dire jeopardy.

D1Baseball.com April 26th Projections
1 Seeds:
North Carolina (#2 National Seed)
Clemson (#4 NS)
Louisville (#5 NS)
Wake Forest
Virginia

2 Seed:
Florida St

UofL, Clemson, and UNC are a combined 49-14 against the rest of the league, which has really piled up losses on mid pack ACC opponents. Teams such as Miami, Duke, Georgia Tech, NC State are all floating around .500 in overall record, which won't get it done.

Cards take down Toledo in game 1, in less than impressive fashion .... grabbing their first lead in the 8th inning. But, a win is a win ... 5 - 4.

Cards are 36 - 6 on the season.

ND beat Duke two out of three in South Bend.

Since an abysmal 1-8 start, ND is 21-15 in its last 36 games.

The Irish are 22-23 overall, 10-14 in the ACC.

Our bullpen is struggling. Probably need to move Krall back to the pen

Better to learn those things now, than later. Plenty of time (and baseball to be played) to get things ready for a post season push.

RE: Open Thread - 2017 Baseball Season
UVa takes series at FSU and is favored to take the last two series. Now that UNC swept Clemson it would be nice if the Cards do the same to Clemson and help secure UVa as being the 4 seed in the ACC tournament and perhaps open up another national seed spot for Virginia.
