Hopefully we don't get blown out at Rice or we get to have another 20 pages of reading the same thing.

Yeah, you are right, which is why it's pretty easy to just stay away from boards after a loss, but it's been 5 days. Which is why it's pretty pointless to have post game threads when they get down to this level. I wonder what casual fans think when we have 40 pages of back and forth and repeating the same thing after a loss to Charlotte.
But hey, I'm not here to judge. You are welcome to keep throwing eggs at a brick wall in your free time if you choose. It just gets a bit tedious after 40 pages.
Edit: 35 pages. My bad. I'm still getting used to alternative facts

I agree that one or both of Godwin and Hueitt COULD have that kind of impact, but the question is where do the minutes come from? You have to play a lot to have that kind of impact. I am interested in hearing others thoughts on this one, because it is an intriguing situation for JJ to work out next year.
Hey, if this kid can shoot like he's shown in HS, AAU, he's going to get someone's minutes. No one's job should be secure; I mean Caver is the starting PG, I'm not keen on Haynes, Hueitt seems to have more range than what we've heard on Green And maybe I'm just dreaming. Been known to happen.

UNCC MBB Game 1/21/17
Is there anyone here that doesn't think Caver is much better this year than last year? Any reason to think he can't get better?

I expect Caver, Talley, and both Stiths to all have more good games and less bad games as they get older.

Caver has had a huuuuuuuge jump. Same with Talley.

Agree on Caver, and I expect he will be even better next year. I think we will see a more consistent shooter and better manager in him in 2018. I am eating some crow on Caver.
Kind of disagree on Talley, and that is not to say he is not playing well. But I think the biggest difference we are seeing in what Talley is doing comes from the fact that he has been handed the keys to the JJ, one player takes all the shots offense. He is getting the Trey treatment this year, leading the conference in percentage of team's shots taken, and, i believe, in the top 20-30 nationally.

Talley started slow, but has improved greatly since conference play started and they increased his usage. His efficiency numbers are about the same as last year, but taken 12 more shots per 100 which shows growth. Hes getting to the line more, getting more assists, and cut his turnovers way down.

When this season is over, Talley should take one week off, and then get up 500 shots a day from behind the arc. He doesn't have to become a 45% guy from deep, but he just has to be dangerous enough that the defenses have to guard him there. As soon as they start having to close out hard on him, he can use that quick first step and beat his guy to the rack regularly.

I'm sure it is something he's been working on. To his credit, he is shooting 41% on 2 point jumpers this year, which is pretty solid. With his ability to get in the lane, he just doesn't settle much for shooting from the outside, but it would certainly make him a more well rounded player. He just doesn't seem interested in shooting past 16 feet.

It is really facinating to me that he can't/won't shoot from 3. He has a good looking shot, and like you said, he does shoot fairly well from just about anywhere out to the three point line.

If he is working on a three pointer that would be great but if he doesn't have the range yet I'd rather not see him take it. Freeman was lights out anywhere inside the three but his accuracy dropped significantly behind the three. I think Talley feels most comfortable with the drive and floater. He has the speed to beat most defenders and the height to shoot the floater whenever he wants. And he's been doing a much better job avoiding the charge. He mostly shoots the mid-range jumper to keep his defender honest or to break the zone. Taking some threes might open up things in the middle some more but if he can't hit them it's not going to help much. If he does develop a three I agree that will really open things up.
