RE: Toledo @ Kent State
Good shooting percentages, good defense and beating them on the glass. I was concerned that Williams would go off. Turns out he was 3-12 and 0-7 from three. Nice job by whoever was checking him.

The good guys also took care of the basketball with 14 assists against 8 turnovers. I realize it was a 20 point game but it makes me wonder. Why not play 9 guys for 10+ minutes a game. Heck, if Walker is healthy, play 10 guys that much.

The next one is always the biggest one. NIU is winnable.

Agree! I was worried when Sendy sat Jimmy down for a couple of extended rest periods (wondering who was gonna score with J Walker being sidelined) but others took up the slack and Jimmy played better being fresher!

Team showed much more composure and played under control. Hope J Walker is gonna be fine and also hope he took note of what "controlled/team ball" is about.

Remember how we tanked when Walker got hurt last year? Didn't happen last night. I wonder if that's significant or just one of those quirks.

Pollard's injury was the huge one ... not WAlker's ... although significant.

Glad to see a lot of the credit going to the coach. Sendy found himself in a frustrating and difficult situation with a young team not meshing. He obviously tried something different as a good coach should do and it made a big improvement. Now we have to hope that improvement continues. I loved the ball movement and it really allowed JH more one on one opportunities. For the first time we seemed to have good interior defense. Good help defense was the key. All is well on this 55 degree Sunday in January.

Defense, ball movement and low turnovers were the key to this game. J. Walker's absense was significant in that he does not play good defense or contribute to ball movement. I believe that once he learns to play D and quits forcing shots he will be a candidate for POY.

Also, noticed Peterson's ability to properly enter the ball in JH. Jimmy H. did make a better effort to play a little D.

Your right I got my foot injuries mixed up. However the point is the same. This team rallied together to overcome losing 15 points a game. That could be a very good sign for the rest of the year but especially for next year.

Toledo's top two players - Williams and Taylor got in foul trouble, and the rest of the players are a big step down. But in the past, Kent has played down to that level. Last night we kept up the intensity

Williams did get into foul trouble because he was frustrated on offense. He was totally ineffective because we shut him down and he forced what shots he did take.
