New week - @Del and @Hof
Tough loss on Saturday, but the streak was bound to come to an end. Time to move forward and put the loss behind us.
I'll be attending the game at Delaware on Thursday night, hoping for a good one!

Welp, at least Sajon Ford looked good in the 35 seconds he played.....

Time to get a win before losing becomes a theme. Our bigs need to have a presence this game. Green or Ford need to start making an impact. It's pretty frustrating to see of late.

Confusing tactics at the end there. Missing a free throw on purpose down by 3 with 5 seconds left? Makes no sense.
Anyway, another disappointment. We knew we were capable of big wins, but we knew we were capable of bad losses. What can you say? We are missing a competent big man more than anything.

Is Alex Murphy operating as more of a "stretch 4/5"?

He's playing a similar role Quincy Ford played for us. He likes to take threes, but will drive to the basket from the wing, and get rebounds bease he's tall/athletic. But he's not playing a traditional big man role at all.
Hoping Jeremy Miller seizes the role of big man when he's healthy, it's what we were lacking last year as well after Eatherton and Spencer left.

Murphy is basically playing a "4" when Miller or Green are on the floor.
When we go small, he's the main guy in the paint.
Murphy's nothing like Quincy. He doesn't handle the ball like Q does and isn't as good creating his own shot.
Also a big man isn't why we're struggling. Green isn't why we're losing. Miller isn't anything like Eatherton and Spencer.
Miller is not a physical player in the paint like those two. That's Green.
I need to get away from here. I'm kicking myself for getting duped once again with this team.
We'll never have a 25 win season under this coach with a high RPI. We're not capable of avoiding losses to bad teams. Not in this coach's DNA.
Now we still could win this thing, but the last three games have killed any momentum we had.

Never said Miller is like Eatherton and Spencer. In fact, said that Miller was not like them, and that's why we haven't been as good these last two seasons. I'm hoping he can step into that role so we have a post presence.
Green is why we are losing. He's been bad and we don't have a good post player on offense and he's medicore on defense. When teams stop respecting us down low they can press our players on the 3 point line more, causing more turnovers and contested looks.
And Murphy doesn't take a lot of pull up mid range jumpers, so in that aspect he isn't like Quincy, but he plays more like a guard than a post player. He's taken over Q's role, just has more toughness and less ability.

RE: New week - @Del and @Hof
After we landed Alex we all upgraded our expectations to "probably out of the play-in game" or "middle of the pack" and that's where we're likely to finish. The team has too many flaws to finish much higher. Sure, we can win some big games when everyone shoots lights out but a team that, 1. isn't deep, 2. Plays three freshmen a lot and 3. is forced to play a center that regularly does an Abacah imitation is not going to be a contender. No one should have been duped by a string of early, mostly home wins against the dregs of the conference. Anyway, it's hard not to be way optomistic about next year with the five new players, Red and Miller back and three solid sophs.
