RE: WBB: Ohio at Toledo game thread
We have certain lineups that do certain things... raz and Sophie barely play, and raz started most games OOC. Rokanen plays a lot now with less action from St. Fort and Halee. Olivia didn't play a ton tonight either. We have too much talent for our own good.

Not to start an argument, but if we have to much talent, why are we a middle of the pack MAC team?

It shouldn't be that way... But we're in a spot where girls aren't getting consistent minutes so no one gets in a groove. Sometimes short benches who are used to the floor can beat deep teams. Being deep just prevents against injuries/foul outs downing a season. When will Beechum be ready?

I'll be nice and say they are making too many mistakes, need to do a better job running the Offense. The transition game is probably the best thing going, but you need to make stops for that to go. Definitely need a go to closer.

It would be i advisable to play Beecham anymore if she can still get an RS. We're six games into the MAC and it would take her a month or so to get into game shape-the handful of minutes she could provide aren't worth burning an RS in my opinion.

I agree. As it is, I'm just hoping that at some point next season she's able to make a contribution. Very unfortunate that she's going to fall a season behind in development and real game conditions, but pushing her too soon this season may lead to bigger problems.

Last time it was Bravo-Harriot who sat out most of the first half with 2 fouls, this game it was Janice Monakana who got two quick fouls and sat out the last 15 minutes of the first half. The first foul was a questionable call but the second was clearly on Janice who decided to bring the ball down count rather let one of the several guards in the game do it and then when she got a little pressure from the Ohio guard defending her, Janice pushed her off with her free arm for the foul and headed to the bench.
That late 6 point possession actually got the Rockets back in the game after having been down as many as 12 (as I recall), but both teams soon reverted to their old form and in the last several minutes Ohio again opened up a 10 point lead as UT found it impossible to score on possession after possession.
I am amazed at how good this team looked in the early O of C games compared to how mediocre they have looked in MAC play (actually starting in the last OCC game against Detroit). During this run, up until tonight at least, their D was good enough to get the W over MAC bottom feeders and also give the Rockets a chance for a win even with the O misfiring all over the place----but tonight Ohio owned the best defense in the arena---a very bad omen. Hopefully they can snap out of it pretty soon or they will be looking at another loss at Kent and a losing record in MAC play as we move well into the season.
Two of the possible reasons for the difference in O of C play (good) and MAC play (bad) that come to my mind are: 1) MAC teams know each other very, very well whereas O of C teams' scouting reports are much less thorough. 2) Cullop always seems to use a lot of players in the O of C and reduce bench minutes for MAC play. During the O of C she was always rotating players in and out and they all seemed to contribute but now that the season is well underway that is much less the case --or at least it seems that way to me.
You know you may have something there. I have been busting my brain trying to figure out how you beat Dayton away in front of 5000 plus screaming kids but can't beat NIU at home. I just couldnt put together as to what changed from OOC TO MAC I thought she was trying to many new things in practice or doing something different in practice. I didnt see what you pointed out

Haven't seen anything yet. Post-game presser Cullop said she didn't know yet; potentially a concussion.

She's listed as a probable starter in the game notes for the Kent State game (available on the UT site). I didn't see any mention of the injury in the notes.
