Well, at least with NIU we report actually accurate numbers. Can't speak for every MAC school

I hope you arent talking about our womens numbers!? Because those are legit. We about fill our lower sections for every single game. The student sections are thin for wbb. Still better than student crowds from any other MAC team for wbb. Our mens numbers are a tiny bit fuged probably because season ticket holders dont always show up. On the mens side we have students though... were u at the NIU wbb game last weekend at Savage?
Never said Toledo as a school or even anyone specifically. The only claim I made was that I know NIU records actual butts in seats and I can't be sure other MAC schools do. That's all I said.

It was a retort to a Toledo fan giving a jab to NIU, so I assumed you were implying we dont report correctly. I know for a fact turnstiles are only counted for student purposes as one entrance doesnt even have them. Scanned tickets doesnt work either because the amount of suites and boxes that get an alotment per game if bought. I also have no idea if security, band, workers etc. are ever taken into account for attendance.
Was not directed specifically at Toledo

I'm using the official stats of the MAC- http://mac-sports.com/custompages/stats/...NFONLY.HTM
Looks like they took only attendance from the EMU game.
yeah, I think you're right. Hopefully they will update it soon. good catch.

Largest crowd in 5 years for a non-Akron game.
Just curious, what's the story behind the big crowd?
Was this a big student recruiting weekend? The reason I ask that is because I struck up a conversation with a family that came in from the Buffalo area while walking into the Akron-EMU game on Friday. They said they were heading over to Kent (on Saturday) and decided to check out Akron while they were in town.
Kudos on the big crowd, just seems odd that this game suddenly drew about 4,000 more than KSU has been drawing this year (and H2H against a nationally televised home Cavs game against the Spurs ... usually both Akron and Kent have been somewhat hurt when going H2H against Cavs home games).

University launched a new "game experience." Lots of new graphics inside and outside. Music blaring outside the main front entrance, installed a substantial and really cool lighting system from the rafters that they used to project hype videos for pre-game introductions and kept them going during stoppage of play. Basically trying to create a more exciting atmosphere to get the crowd into the game. Overall, I'd say it was very good!
As for the crowd, there were actually about 5k butts in seats (not even close to being a totally full MAC Center. I don't care what anyone at KSU says...fake news). I heard that the University gave away a lot of tickets to employee's, staff, etc. so that probably accounted for an extra 1,500 or so.

Another factor is that it was a men's/women's DH and one ticket got you in both games. Women's game was at 4. Men's game started about 7:10.

Was A UT and Kent double header. Our women travel 300-500 strong, so if they count the women plus mens crowds... a decent Toledo section for the first half probably contributed.

RE: Jan. 17th MBB Attendance
All that above makes sense, including the Toledo women's aspect (amazing the support that program gets). Another factor, had to be the weather. Yesterday was the nicest mid-to-late January day I ever remember (temps in the mid-60s) ... well, only to be outdone by today ... my temperature gauge was reading 67.8 degrees on my porch about an hour ago.
And as Akron/Kent/Buffalo fans know this even more than the rest of the league, for every day(s) like this, there are 10 where the conditions are so bad this time of year that you are risking your life to get to the game if you are traveling more than 10 miles. In the past 10 years, I would say there have been at least a half dozen Akron games where there was no way I would even consider going to because of the weather.

OT, and this isn't intended to bring politics to the board. But I find the "attendance arguments" in media and among politician spokespeople regarding the POTUS inauguration to be humorous, reminding me of some threads that have shown up here and elsewhere.
