As this season progresses I really don't like the Owls out of conference schedule. Two schools in the top 50 based on RPI. The next highest non conference RPI is 196. There non conference schedule was made to get wins, not to be challenged as a team.

This is more or less the same team that we faced in Texas. We have to guard the three point line as over 1/3 of there shots are from behind the arc.

…………..Rice….ODU
PPG…...65.5….66.4
OPPG….57.2….68.2
FG%....42.9….42.5
3P%....33.7…….31.9
3PPG….7.1……….4.9
FT%....62.1..67.7
FTPG….10.1…12.1
RPG……37.7…40.9
ORPG…35.5…35.5
APG…..16.1…13.7
TPG…...17.5..18.8
SPG…...7.2….7.2
BPG…….2.2….3.9
AST/TO ratio:
Rice: 0.9, ODU: 0.7

Let’s talk turnovers. If you look at just the conference only stats, do you want to guess which team in Norfolk has the most turnovers in the league? That is right. In seven games, ODU has turned the ball over 145 times, or 20.7 times per game. How do you win when you average a turnover almost every two minutes? We are own worse enemies and at this stage of the game, that has a lot to do with coaching. We shouldn’t have travel calls against us this late in the season. Now is a good time to start our improvement.

They can be fun when they win. Final score ODU 81, Rice 61. 34 points from Simms along with 7 boards and 5 assists. 14 points and 11 boards from Young. This was a fun game to watch since fans finally got to see the answer to the long await question: what would happen if Timmons and Kemp played on the floor together? Both of them brought speed and defense. You could tell that they were having fun on the court and that spread to the team. It was a great team effort overall. ODU scored 22 points off turnovers and lead second chance points in 18 to 2.

Rice to there credit never gave up. If the LM learn anything it's how the Owls encouraged everyone on and cheered every play while on the road. They brought the energy. And that is impressive in itself because it's easy to get comfortable and play hard at home with the fans cheering you on. But today they brought it. And even though they were down double digit for the majority of the second half they kept fighting That is exactly what ODU will have to bring in Feb. February will be our make or break month. We play just seven games in the month of Feb, but five of them are on the road. That is what what will make or break the LM's schedule. If they can harvest Rice's energy for the month ahead, it will be impressive.

This was a game in the fact that we saw two technical fouls. To see one is rare. Last time we had two in a game...honestly, I don't know. But one was called against Rice's team....there coach went really far from her box. And the other was called against Young. I think she said something she should not have...... When Simms went down in the fourth quarter for a second, it was a reminder that ODU has been pretty lucky with injuries this season. Yes right now Jessica is out with a cast around her left arm. And Ajemba....she has been red shirting all year. Haven't heard why...but if you saw her at the games recently, it seems kind of obvious why now..... :-)

Also Carley Brew's first appearance at the Ted. Don't judge her by her two shots. You can tell on her face that she wanted the basket to go in....she was eager. And you can't blame for wanting to score in front of her fans for the first time...

How bad was this team? If Rice is garbage then this win isnt impressive
