To be fair... He's always been kind of a punk. But still, really? Just because he said his high school instead of UC? It's really not that big of a deal. I'm not happy about it either but I'll still root for the guy (at least until he gives me a good reason not to).

Whoever would rather associate with Cleveland Heights instead of Cincinnati has obviously got some issues anyways.

They film those things at the beginning of the season. They reuse them throughout the year.

Back to the original point. I've seen him multiple times introduced on TV and he's never said UC once.

Yep. I have heard this before. No clue why. He can say whatever he wants. His brother says UC.

Because they suspended him for a year to save his roommate's ass. You tend to not be thrilled with a school after that.

I must have missed that part of the story

Me too. What roommate?

Well a quick search shows that he lived with Wolfe and Jason....so I am not sure which roommates ass needed saving or what happened.

He moved in with those guys after losing his scholarship.

They record that at the beginning of the season and use the same one for every game.

Broncos fan here.

I'm pretty certain during his time in KC he's dropped UC.

Personal preference thing. We shouldn't feel some type of way based on it. No idea what his reasoning is.

He also dropped an open pass that would have put KC on the 5. Right before he dropped that Pittsburgh DB for the 15 yard penalty. 04-jawdrop

No there is no way for a poster (and maybe even a mod) to delete a thread he did not initiate.

This seems like a petty thing to get riled up about. Even if the guy is a little douchey, it wasn't necessarily meant as a slight toward UC. Many players mention their high school in these video packages. I remember Charles Woodson routinely saying Fremont Ross Little Giants instead of Michigan in these sorts of videos and he was an All-American Heisman Trophy winning player for them.

Not sure if he gives back financially to UC, but if he does, he can announce his pee-wee football team for all I care.

And it wasn't even justified. The OL all but tackled the rusher.

It only really sucks when the other team (The Pittsburgh Steelers) introductions are led by a QB who proudly announces his college as "Miami University of Ohio," and then in the Chief's lay-out you have your alumnus announce that he's from "Cleveland Heights, Ohio."

It's not the first time we've had something like this happen. Most of the players who came through the Minter years were mercenaries and once they were done at UC never made mention of UC again. It was Dantonio and Kelly that started the whole "be proud of being a Bearcat" phenomenon among the FB players. (It was Kelly who launched the "Represent the 'C'" program... That one is still my favorite and I wish Fickell would revive it as an ethos of the program.) Travis Kelce obviously has walked away from the program for whatever reason.

I won't lose any sleep over it. But neither will I go gaga over him either. If next season he decides to announce that he's a UC alum then great. If not? Eh, "bye, Felicia."

Fair point...

I guess what I would "like" (or "prefer") is that the "Represent the 'C'" (or "Earn the 'C'") would be an on-going thing as opposed to a momentary slogan. One of the issues with "Earn" is what happens when you've earned your letter. What Kelly started with "Represent the 'C'" was an ongoing regimen of service projects and high-visibility engagements with the "C-Paw" prominently featured that got the football players visibly out into the community. Of course he then threw cold-water on that by jumping ship. But my hope was that the goal of the program was more than a season or even a single group of players.

And maybe I'm splitting hairs on the language...I hope I am. I am perfectly willing to give Coach Fickell every chance to resurrect the pride in being a Bearcat football player. So if "Earn the 'C'" becomes the foundational ethos of this program like I hoped "Represent the 'C'" would, I will be a very happy fan.
