Some of the fans that have been drawn by football, will likely transition to basketball if program continues to improve with your new coach. We have to do it with basketball alone, which apparently is not easy in this part of the country. At least we now have an AD that will work hard to promote what we have.

Yes I believe we do have a great AD, and, one mistake won't make me change my mind about Chase, but it wasn't as hard to promote a coach like Chris Beard, and a team that would go on to win thirty games, and advance to the second round of the tourney. Looking forward to the sellouts down the stretch at the end of this season.

And hiring a Little Rock boy to coach the hometown team is really paying off. I see literally thousands of new fans coming in to support the local guy, as they did Super Sidney, and he was a former Hog. Wes is a former enemy of the Hogs. Maybe it was beginners luck in finding Chris Beard last year, but at least he looked.. You don't look, you get what's there. Ain't always good.

How do you know he didn't look? I have no idea if he did or not. But, hiring Wes doesn't mean he didn't. I honestly can't recall how quickly we hired Wes after Beard left. I think Chasse knew there was good chance Beard would be gone several weeks before the season ended. I'm sure he was looking and talking to folks long before Beard actually left.

Don't know for sure. It's been a while, but I seem to have read it somewhere, and that would be either this site or the friendly Arkansas Democrap. Plus Beard was replaced quickly, and there was not enough time to have held interviews, and had visits. This program was hot after the tournament, no doubt many assistants and head coaches from smaller programs would have shown an interest. This program was badly wounded when Jim Platt was hired to replace Newell. Let's hope we haven't done it again. Hard to follow a legend in either case, and yes, regardless of what he does from here on, Chris Beard was a legend for one year here for sure. And even with all those fans and friends of Wes Flannigan, who came out after he was hired, we still couldn't sell out against A-State, who probably contributed at least a thousand, and we won't sell out a game this year.

Yes, winning 30 games will bring out the "tourists" as Pappy likes to call them. We won't get a ton of them this year. We'll get our hardcore fans, like always, and walk-ups that are brought in by the departments promotions.
