O/T: Never thought of Rynearson as a possible NFL stadium
I know...
It is a real stretch but the Chargers are apparently going to play two years in a 30K stadium (soccer) until they move into a new L.A. stadium.
But both StubHub Center and Rynearson seat 30K (but that is where the similarity ends, I'm afraid).

Pro football is in the stadium's blood. How can you forget the Detroit Wheels?

How can I forget, EMU Hurons, Detroit Wheels, EMU Eagles...
I have seen all of the above at Rynearson...
Now I know I have lived a full life.

The Chargers deserve that. What a joke of a franchise. Now we have 2 teams in LA that no one cares about.

Wow, just wow.
The Chargers should have just got on their knees and begged Pasadena to play at the Rose Bowl instead

This may be a good opportunity to see if the NFL and their owners are as cleaver/smart, etc. as they think they are...
This has a chance to be a major disaster.
We'll see...

Hate it when the business side of pro sports takes priority over the fans.

Do I understand this right...owners move the team because they (the owners) don't want to pay for a new stadium, they want to public to. But they will pay a $650M relocation fee???

Having lived in San Diego their fans don't care about the Chargers until they are in the playoffs. Sure their current stadium is a dump but the Padres have a nice, newer ballpark in downtown San Diego and they still get a half-filled stadium on a good day.

Yeah, but in the case of Los Angeles if your team doubles in value then $650MM is just an investment. If you're wanting to move San Antonio, the fee makes a relocation a big financial gamble. And if you're the Chargers owner, you don't have to pay for a stadium like Kroenke is, you just have to lease and you still have the opportunity to become the more popular NFL team in the city with how bad the Rams have been for a while.
The NFL, compared to all the other major sports leagues, is the least dependent on individual markets by far. While there's a big difference in support between the Cowboys and Jaguars, the league shares money in such a fashion that it makes teams in markets like Green Bay possible when in baseball they couldn't even support a AAA team. The Margaret Thatcher quote "socialism works until you run out of other people's money" applies here because that's what their business model is similar to, except that the NFL makes so much money that it doesn't matter.
However, that model begins to fall apart when you oversee a less entertaining product (from all the rule changes), a less entertaining in-game atmosphere (frequent play stoppages, high ticket prices creating a corporatized atmosphere), and throw in some bad press for good measure (the concussion issue, debatably the national anthem thing). Taking a crap on specific markets by permitting relocations to fickle sports cities is another thing that hurts the league long-term, you can be sure that NFL ratings across the board in San Diego will take a dip like it has in St. Louis. It's shortsightedness in its finest.

Do the S. Diego St. Aztecs play there?

The Aztecs do indeed play at Qualcomm and its way too big for their needs. My understanding is that SDSU was going to invest in updating it. I'm not sure if they were going to buy the stadium and property or continue to rent it. I'm sure the land is worth a pretty penny though. The stadium was certainly built on the cheap, its mostly concrete and steel beams.
I don't blame the city of San Diego for not wanting to throw a ton of money into building a new stadium downtown for a team that never sells out its games.
