LOL. Morris Deas of the Southern Poverty Law Center broke the Klan. Figures, not Sessions led the prosecution in that case. I lived 5 blocks from the lynching when it happened. I think their contention that Sessions was intstrumental was them trying to be polite to a colleague. It was Figures, not Sessions that drove that prosecution. I'm VERY familiar with Micheal Donald lynching, the Tiger Knowles and Hays criminal cases, and the SPLC led civil action against the Klan of Alabama.

Also note that in that case, strong support for prosecution came from non-Black minorities as well. The Klan, which has never had much of a presence in Mobile, also hates Catholics, who are a large and very influential community in the Port City. Fpr the record, Sessions didn't impede the prosecution of the Klan IMHO, but I think he is completely overstating (by a WIDE margin) his involvement in this case. But know that there were significant, powerful communities (rightly) demanding prosecution as well. And it happened a quarter mile from a VERY well off neighborhood, and was perpetrated by outsiders (they were from Baldwin County) Everyone in Mobile was demanding prosecution.

Ok, Jeff Sessions, supported a bill to equalize sentencing laws. Did that law, reduce penalties for Blacks, or INCREASE them for whites? Just curious. Even assuming he did do that bill out of a desire to help African Americans....that gives you two instancse in a 40 year history as US Attorney, as Alabama AG, and as US Senator. By the way that vote was apparently unanimoous. I still can't find any contentious issue where Jeff Sessions has sided with minorities on anything.

It is completely relevant on a thread posted to dismiss charges of bigotry leveled at Jeff Sessions. Its a shame that just about everything from the GOP is promoting homophobia or advancing antiLGBT animus. Part of the problem with DJT is that he has chosen to appoint a cabinet filled with people with extremely bad histories with regards to racism/homophobia.

And that's my opinion, biased or not, forumlated through watching him over the last 40 years, at closer proximity than pretty much everyone else on this forum.
