Guess some of the union heads will have to rethink their private golf courses and meetings in Las Vegas.

Unions are an anachronism. Their sole purpose is to inflate wages above what they would be in a free market.

Don't they have a Democratic governor?

No. In fact, and I'm sure Card Fan can confirm, for the first time in forever, both house of the Kentucky legislature are now Republican controlled. Along with a Republican governor, that's likely why this has finally come up in that state.

Lot of yard signs popping up around here saying that the law will destroy families. Teamsters are mad because law says you cannot be forced to join a union or pay union dues in order to work.

RE: Kentucky passes right to work state law !
Kentucky's new Governor, Matt Bevin, elected in 2015, is only the 2nd Republican governor in the last 40 years or so. The Kentucky House of Representatives is now under Republican control (as of the 2016 election) for the first time in nearly a century. The Senate has been under Republican control for a few years.

The Kentucky Democratic Party was able to maintain power far longer than they should have because they masqueraded as "conservative" and also had enormous power and influence at the local level. It's been a battle for the Republicans to finally break that stranglehold on power. The Democrats utilized that urban "ward boss" tactics in rural Kentucky as they do so well in urban areas. Kinda interesting to see how effective they've been.

Here's some interesting info about our new Governor:
He's young, by politician standards (48 when elected). Has 9 children, four adopted from Ethiopia (yes, they're black African). All 9 are homeschooled. He's a former Army Captain. His Lieutenant Governor is a Black Female Republican, Jenean Hampton, who is a former Air Force Captain.

In a state with a small black population (only 7.8%), it definitely nullifies the liberal propaganda that conservatives won't vote for a black American.

Alabama and Arkansas just recently elected their first Republican legislatures.

Correct. Our Governor is a Republican and both houses are controlled by Republicans for the first time since the 1920's (I believe).

People don't realize the stranglehold at the local and state level the Democrats had in the South lasted far into the 2000's in most places. Chalk another success for Team Obama

Meh, many of their members voted for the GOP and Trump. I'm not terribly sympathetic to them at this point. I know its bad to feel that way, but I'm not that sympathetic today. You can't fix stupid. And any factory worker with a high paying job with good benefits who voted for DJT and the GOP...is hacksawing themselves. If I were in the KY leg, I'd vote against it. But I'm not terribly upset

Hope they like that factory job cutting comp to 20 an hour with no benefits. MAGA? More like Make Factory Workers Broke Again.

Why are union workers so racist?

Sorry to Bust Your A$$ Tom, but yesterday My union , if a new contract offer passes membership vote, just got raises for the same workers that in December voted down a new contract proposal that under Obama offered None. Zero, Zelch raises along with lower starting wages for new hires for the next 4 years. Seems Trump has made the future look a little brighter for the Company making a profit again and the workers will benefit long term. This is after the right to work law passed and negotiations could have easily gone the other way. Myself, I'm retiring very soon. Now I don't have to worry about those still left there worrying about an uncertain future there.
