RE: Best non-P5 recruiting classes
Not too worried for UC, we only have 12 verbals. We flipped Toledo's top recruit this week, and last week got a local 3/4 star kid to stay home. Rumors that Torrance Gibson might come to UC. He signed with Ohio State but had to sit out or something. When we get up to 20 plus commits the class will look really good.
I think these are Fickell's assistant coach hire so far,
Mike Denbrock OC/?
Marcus Freeman DC/LB
Jon Tenuta Co-DC?/DB
Joker Phillips WR
Doug Phillips ST

It can be one-sided. That's why a player can de-commit with no particular consequence (except being on that school/coach's sh__list.
In this case, if those WMU commits were really taken with Fleck, when he changed schools, they can change their commitment unilaterally. They are presumably assuming that Fleck would want them at UM.
He's taken at least 8 players from WMU. They were on the WMU list on Scout until this weekend and now they are on Minnesota's list. One guy was literally moving to the campus of WMU to start early enrollment. This afternoon it was reported he decided to go to Minnesota, blindsisiding WMU who had literally tweeted yesterday that said player was staying at WMU, and starting classes for this semester! Wow...
Cheers!
Surprising that a Big 10 school would want 8 players out of a MAC school's class. 2 or 3 maybe, but 8?
Minnesota may be anticipating a large exodus of its own commits plus transfers unhappy with the recent handling of Claeys and the boycott.
It also shows how good of a recruiter that Fleck is. The fact that he made WMU competitive with the P5 programs shows that he did an excellent job in that department.
On come on. Most solid p-5 programs would not have space for 8 recruits from WMU. Fleck had a nice run but how many p-5 programs did he really beat on the field or recruiting.
You guys act like Fleck is similar to Tom Herman as far as winning big games and recruiting. They are not comparable.
