Rip sort of goes contrary to your tired old argument that we have to play SEC teams to build the program. He played them and we didn't get anywhere.

Current approach is the right approach.

Wolo named Rey Dempsey, but I read him their overall records and told him that Rip had a worse winning percentage than Dempsey, which the records did show.

I told him that additionally, the University had had to endure 6 years of Scherer, while Dempsey was let go after 2 years. And, Scherer led the nation in crying after games. I have never seen a head coach openly weep after losses like Rip did. There ain't supposed to be any crying in football.

I quit going to Highland Hundred meetings after several years of Rip, because the tradition was to give the head coach a standing "O" when he was introduced. Since I could not do that in good conscience, I just stayed away until he left.

lol. You must have taken some long naps and missed several seasons.

Probably not the worst but probably the most boring

He still has a ton of fans here it seems

You're entitled to your opinion. But I just don't see how that can be true. Unfortunately, Porter wins hands down. Going back to when you made the statement - you could certainly make the argument. Although, I still think Dempsey was worse. His record was comparable and he did some damage locally.

RE: Rip homecoming this season
I thought this thread was about getting rid of homecoming next year. As in Rest in Peace.

Thread title of the year candidate.

I disagree with you here, but it's an interesting argument. Our profile increased the past couple of years because of our play against high caliber opponents. Not all SEC, though.

You absolutely need at least 1 big OOC game as a G5. Maybe 2. But you don't need every OOC game to be on the road against SEC teams. You need home - home, and you need at least 1 buy game. Taking the team on the road every week and getting beat does nothing but send you backwards.

My tired old argument isn't to play sec schools, it's to play the toughest ooc schedule possible. Check on Rip he played BIG 10 schools whenever possible, Michigan, Michigan state, Minnesota. I understand tommy had a chance to play ohio state and Oklahoma and said no way. Word on the street is these were big pay day games for us, but tommy said no

RE: Rip homecoming this season
Rip never won more than 5 games in a season

Tommy beat Ole Miss twice, one year with Eli, and they cancelled the series

Drops mic

Take off the green shirt
