It's Throwback Thursday!
For you Somebody To Love, let's go back to 1984.
NU vs. VCU in the 1st Round of the NCAA's
About this game... it goes by very fast because of the pace.
- It's played at the old Meadowlands Arena, which is still across the street from MetLife Stadium (what a dump).
- Rolando Lamb, who hits the GW shot, his son Jeremy (now in the NBA) years later got recruited and accepts UConn's offer from Jim Calhoun. The same Jim Calhoun who coached in this game!
- The late great #35 Reggie Lewis, who was a freshman, was ballin' in this game!
- #33 Mark Halsel was a alpha dogg that year, he was ECAC North Atlantic Conf. POTY. He had all kinds of "swagger."
- #3 Andre LaFluer was the 2nd best PG in NU history. He was once the NCAA's all-time assist leader, before Sherman Douglas of Syracuse broke his record. (I think Andre is now like, 13th all time). He's in this 1st year as an assistant coach at UNLV, after spending quite a while as assistant coach at Providence.
-#5 Glen Miller has been the assistant coach at UConn for nearly a dozen years now. Was the former head coach at Brown.
- Jim Calhoun needs no introduction
