PJ is a great mouthpiece. Motivator... day to day "zig ziggler" endless loop... his best ability was to keep his coordinators intact and drive better than you can be mantras into his players. He's a great players coach... but he's not a football top to bottom guy...

He added HUGE value to our program and our players. Built some great individuals out of our program we will forever be proud of... but to think he's the best next step here is quite short sighted... he got it started... now it's time to move forward and grow with RTB and the next direction... he would have burned out with the players had he stuck around.

I have a hard time seeing them winning the Big 10 or even finishing in the top 2 or 3 in the Big 10 West. They have to compete with Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, and Northwestern. They lost to 3 of those 4 this past season. Arguably easier than the East division though. Minnesota HS football isn't overflowing with talent, but at least they are the only FBS program in the state.

I'm intrigued to see if Fleck can push them past mediocrity.

You can bet he won't impose a 6 hour radius to his recruiting at Minnesota. Can't afford to and besides, the Gophers are already a recognized brand, even if their success has been irregular and fleeting.

This is why I think he leaves some of his staff at WMU in the wind...

Let's take a step back - the guy was the jumpstart - let's get an established coach who can beat Wisconsin (and USC and MSU) - let's not over romanticize the guy. I think he has a hell of a time getting to 10+ wins st Wisc. Just doesn't work as long or as broadly as he hoped.

PJ was necessary.... but not required for continued growth. Up to KB now to make the next right move.

Agreed. I trust KB. The last two football coaches have been great for WMU. Hockey, too.

Why do you wish Peej ill will? We went 12-0 and gave Wisky and excellent game. Let him go to Minnesota to sink or swim.

Here, here. PJ built the hot rod, now we find the right person to drive it.
