RE: NCAAB: ACC - Conference Play - Updated through 2/5 Games
Well, FSU has bounced back nicely from their two game skid. Nobody in America beats that FSU team Saturday. I've seen some good FSU teams here and there over the years, but this is the first team they've had that when they're playing at their peak, I don't think anyone can beat them. Obviously, you don't get your A game every night.
That may be taken for granted by some of you guys that follow basketball royalty, but that's quite a unique thing for an FSU team. I'm not saying this team in final four-bound by any means, but there's no ceiling with these guys.

I think FSU proved themselves down that stretch of 6 ranked teams. That team can hang a NC banner.

That needs to be the next step for this team. They need to narrow the gap between their A game, which is amazing, and their B game. In tournament play, sometimes you need to be able to win with your B game when it's one and done. You can't get to the Final Four without getting past the Sweet Sixteen first.
I don't see anybody out there this year that FSU couldn't beat on any given night. But there are a lot they could lose to as well. Here's hoping they can stay focused.

All that is true, for sure.
But that's how good this team is, and how different that is for us.
Over the years, we'd upset a Duke or North Carolina, and it almost always had the same recipe...play the best game you're capable of playing, and usually, have them be a little flat.
This year, we've had wins over teams like Louisville, UVA and Duke in games where we just played "well enough".
As nole said...for us that's bizarro world.
But yeah, "well enough" won't get you through six games, and you're not going to get your A game for six games. I'm sure we'll have to be able to find the form we've had in our most recent three halves of basketball at least a few times in the tourney if we're going to go deep, and avoid the three quarters we played from GT through the first half of Syracuse completely.

Cuse hit a 3 at the buzzer to beat Clemson by 1.
Another needed win to build their resume.

Man, FSU's four halves of basketball from the second half against Miami through the first half against NC State are about the best run I can remember this team on in the 25 years or so I've been watching them. Outscored their opponents by an average of 21 points per half over those four halves.

How did you like playing them at home, with 0 players out?

This is a pretty good race to see who gets the double bye in the ACCT. Gotta think Syracuse won't hang on, but somebody awfully good is going to get left out. The quarterfinal round should be awesome.
Just as compelling to me is the race to avoid playing in the first round. One of them could be an NCAAT team even if they lose their first game in the ACCT. How crazy is that?

We kinda liked it...loved playing UVA at a neutral location too.

Probably right...figure we finish the regular season 3-3 or maybe 4-2
I'm just hoping for a 10 seed this year.

Huge game for Cuse today...they always have a hard time beating Pitt. Another win will help build momentum for an NCAA bid. A loss while not fatal might require another Top 10 win or two wins in the ACC Tourney if they finish out less than 3-3.
