CAA's Top Non-Conference wins in 2016: NU with 2 of the top 3 slots
Posted this to the UNCW board but thought you guys might be interested. My take on the CAA's Top 10 non-conference wins:
Updated Top 10 Non-conference wins for the CAA so far this year can be found below. The 2 big changes can be summarized here:
* With Michigan St winning a big game @ # 18 Minnesota on Tuesday, that victory for Northeastern vaults to # 2 on the list. I can't quite put it above Charleston's win over Davidson yet, even though NU's was on the road and Charleston's was at home, because of the projected RPI difference. If that narrows, the MSU game becomes the # 1 marquee win for the conference.
* Delaware enters the top 10 with their win over Iona. Towson's win over Iona is 4 spots higher than Delaware's because Towson beat Iona on a neutral floor whereas Delaware hosted the Gaels.
1. Charleston vs. Davidson (# 41 RPI, projected # 33)
2. Northeastern @ Michigan State (# 59 RPI, projected # 92)
3. Northeastern @ Vermont (# 90 RPI, projected # 60)
4. Charleston neutral vs. Boise State (# 94 RPI, projected # 86)
5. Towson neutral vs. Iona (# 118 RPI, projected # 94)
6. UNCW @ St. Bonaventure (# 121 RPI, projected # 155)
7. Towson vs. Loyola-Maryland (# 103 RPI, projected # 64)
8. UNCW vs. East Tennessee State (# 107 RPI, projected # 90)
9. Delaware vs. Iona (# 118 RPI, projected # 94)
10. UNCW neutral vs. Toledo (# 120 RPI, projected # 106)
Honorable Mention:
Northeastern @ UCONN (# 167 RPI, projected # 228)
Towson @ George Mason (# 161 RPI, projected # 192)
Remaining big games in non-conference:
Dec 29
W&M @ ODU (# 109) - 7:00
