RE: Rebuilding the Defense
I may have missed something--I know he was injured--but don't we also get Olekanma back at LB? I believe he would be a Junior next season. I thought he had a few nice moments early in the season before he was injured...

The rest of your list has a few guys who were pretty solid, a few guys who made some improvement during the course of the season, and a few guys who either just weren't ready yet but had to play now, or under-performed for some reason. I think "rebuilding" is the accurate term to use. My biggest concern is, even if all of the above players work hard in the off season and come back as improved players next season, where will our depth come from? Three guys sharing the DT positions all season could be problematic...no real back-ups at DE...and if we have close to the same injury issues again next season?

Some guys who didn't play last season, either as true frosh or red-shirts, are going to have to be pleasant surprises. And there's usually 1 or 2 of those...not sure how many schollys we think we have unspoken for at the moment, but another couple JUCOs on D who will be here for more than 1 season would help...

Yes, Olekanma should be back, assuming he's recovers from his injury - never did hear what it was. He was getting decent playing time and had 9 tackles in 3 games before being injured. In addition there is FR (presumably red-shirted) Tre'Shun Wilson, who as I recall was pretty highly regarded out of HS. Also, there is Anthony Davis. Not sure what happened to him. He started against BYU, played about 2 series and then I don't think saw the field again that game, or much the rest of the season. Although stats indicate he played against EMU and BG.

On DL Atariwa is also back (he was a DL in HS, so playing DL for the Rockets is not a stretch) and FR Willie Ross who played some near the end of the season. Several other DL on the roster including FR Hood and Mathews who presumable red-shirted and LaMarr Davis who will be a SO.

In the backfield, Whitfield played a lot on special teams and made some big plays, so I imagine will be expected to be playing safety next season. There are FR (again, presumably red-shirted) Justin Clark and Keelen Roberts who were well regarded out of HS.

Lots of other names on the roster, most of whom I am presuming are walk-ons.
