Gonzaga and Pittsburgh have the best home court winning percentages and they have our old seating arrangement. Duke also has this layout. Small details like this make a difference. Administration can do something; it's not impossible. We also lost 900 seats in the renovation. That's almost 15% of the original capacity!

I doubt you will see any changes in bench location -that would require saying they made a mistake and it will not happen. Not to mention the fact that if they did go back to the original setup the fans in the seats on the old people side would be pissed off and pull the money plug. They screwed the place up and it just is not the same. I also don't think ANY students want to sit upstairs.

There were students sitting last year top couple rows on North side center section at many games when seats were downstairs

Exactly. Trask was like Cameron on a smaller scale. Time to change it back. I understand why they did it but the place is packed again so they're making $.

They would listen but I wonder if he knows how different the place is now from what it used to be?

Good point. Someone needs to let him know that has been around awhile.

the main reason the benches are not going to be switched is to allow visitors to exit the floor safely and more quickly. To many knuckleheads embarrassed the school in the past.

players and coaches? They used to shake hands walk across floor out the same door, now they pretty much do the same.(maybe 15 more feet walk?)

I thought is was because the benches used to be in the high dollar section, thus the school lost money on those seats.

Now the benches are in the student section, which allows the school to sell more high dollar seats.

IMO its a simple financial decision that is necessary since building capacity has shrunk by 900

What? If that's the truth (hope it is only conjecture) it may be one of the lamest excuses I've ever heard. Add more guys in yellow jackets and/or Uncw police escorting the visitors out. I thought it was about the court side seats and making $$$

The idea is to have the band and the student section closer to the visiting team in order for the noise to affect them. You see that setup in a lot of places now. To increase the home team advantage. Too many of the older crowd just sits on their hands.

When they moved the team benches I was told they wanted the opposing team near the students because the student section was loud and make it harder for the team to hear the coaches

If that was the case, what an epic fail. I think it was all about the money and the seats vs bleachers is what I was told when they ask for about 3x the money to keep the same seats in the same area. There was no roping off the section in the bleachers-they just sat with the rest of the fans behind the bench. I was there for 25 plus years and I saw one incident that required some help from security. The students are not close enough now to make a difference. Why have the parents and friends in the student section?

I would not say epic fail. They did this 5 years ago when attendance was at record lows. Now that we are selling out and student section is back to full force give them the full bleacher on the opposite side again. If anyone is reading please do this

I think the biggest thing they could do is to really let them cramp the student section full again. Go on YouTube and see clips of the student section packed shoulder to shoulder all the way across. They do not allow this to happen right now

Some of the security guards that sit in front of the students don't allow much bench heckling. Some are less strict than others, but it kind of defeats the purpose of putting the students behind the bench if they're gonna be censored.
