He handled it well from an outsider perspective and I think a change of scenery will do him good.
Bobby is amazing but he really did him no favors by dropping the heinecke comparison on him as a true freshman.
It doesn't matter. Shuler is a class kid, but isn't good enough to be our qb.

Totally agree. He wound up not being the right guy to lead our team as starting QB, but he's the kind of guy you like to have on the team and around your players.

Shuler Bentley Transferring?
Seems like a nice guy. That said, I'm not planning to follow Murray State or any other team that features players that transferred away from ODU.

Good for him; as one who has friends who are die hard Wolfpack fans, it will be interesting to see how his brother Jake does this Saturday playing QB for South Carolina against NC State

Happy for him. It will be interesting to see if he still throws at peoples feet and if he has become more mobile. I would hope his athleticism would allow him more mobility against OVC players, but the low throwing was always baffling to me.

Great to see Shuler play well. I still wish he competed for a job this summer.
P.S. he had a 14 yard run to for all the dual threat fanboys.

Eh, I think he can play at the FBS level somewhere. Remember down the stretch of his freshman year, he had 9 TDs/1 Int with a ~55% completion percentage after coming back vs. Western Kentucky, USM, and FAU. I'm sure he would have gone somewhere FBS if he was willing to sit out another year and lose a year.
He lost the job here, but I do wish he would have stayed and competed for it over the summer. Wish him luck, seemed to handle everything well. Now has a younger brother starting at a big time SEC school.

I just do not see where Blake Larussa is better than Shuler.

RE: Shuler Bentley Transferring?
I saw it multiple times. LaRussa is far more mobile than Bentley and his arm is just as good if not better. Having said that he needs game experience to learn how to make better decisions in real time. He'll improve over the season and I think Hoy will as well. Remember Larussa has 2 years experience over Hoy and what we saw last night was a Hoy with a limited number of plays memorized.

I am not willing to wait..he needs to be a back up. Hoy has better quickness, appears bigger and stronger, and has a much stronger arm.

Blake LaRussa completed 70% of his passes last night. In his two years playing at ODU, Shuler Bentley completed 51.6% of his passes. Really to early to compare or contrast, but at this point, nuff said.

RE: Shuler Bentley Transferring?
Bentley also took had more TDs than Ints......
Blake had a very conservative gameplan for him last night. Probably due to first start and also the rain. He wasnt bad, just not great either. 1 bad decision and an addition 2 bad throws. He had 3 nice deep passes to Duhart and showed mobility. Showed he was comfortable in the offense. Hoy was so limited, there really isnt much to go on. Dont remember a throw outsode the hashmarks to judge arm strength; I believe the coaches have said Blake has the strongest arm arm on the team. Shouldnt be knocked there, but every year fans complain about "floating passes." I thought Hoy looked very uncomfortable and the sack fumble could have been a disaster. He clearly has talent with his legs, but he clearly needs work.
