Charo and her husband Kjell.

They appeared on celebrity wife swap in 2015 with The Love Boats Jill Whelan. Charo guest star on The love Boat.

I "met" Charo after a show at the Sahara when I was a kid. We were waiting on a bench outside the hotel's gift shop when she came down the hallway. Charo looked at me, smiled, walked up close to me and said in her Charo-voice: "Oh, look at the little cutie...Coochie-coochie-coo!" and gave me a front row seat. The old Sahara before they basterdized it with the roller coaster and NASCAR stuff, was an elegant, sophisticated place. I loved their old sign the best of any of the signs on the Strip.

Sad news. I was in high school when the Monkees arrived on the music and tv scene. They were probably the most famous musical group that was manufactured for a tv show. Their music wasn't my favorite, but they weren't bad for the time. I took a date to see them my junior year in high school in Jackson, MS. I remember her acting like they were the Beatles. Fun times.

MTV reintroduced them in the 1980s as some of their hits were re-releashed and a new album with new songs. MTV also shown the reruns of the show. My sister had a crush on them. My whole family and my sister's friend and her mother went to see them in concert at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds raceway track in OKC. Retro 60s concert with Herman Hermits, Gary US Bonds and another act opened for them.

At that time of my life it probably would have been a premature celebration.

Pro rodeo bull rider, Cody Sorensen, dead at 25 after being murdered. This is very senseless act of killing for a very young man.

Stanley Donen, probably the last living director from the Golden Age of movies, died a few days ago at the age of 94. He directed such classic musicals as Singing in the Rain, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, On The Town, and then some non-musical classics like Charade. I actually saw him speak in college when he was promoting his final film, 1984's Blame It On Rio. It was kind of cool hearing a lecture from one of the Hollywood greats, but the poor UCLA film snobs who were at the film showing and lecture just ripped into him for that sexploitation film with Michael Caine and Michelle Williams. I guess it's not surprising he never made another major film after that.

Donen's did the Lionel Richie's Dancing on the Ceiling which he took part of the movie he directed of Fred Astaire's dance routine from Royal Wedding. There was a reference of the film Seven Year Itch of a skirt being blown up over a woman's head.

The annual who did the Oscars snub in its In Memoriam segment story is out.

Stanley Donen, Carol Channing, Sondra Locke, Verne Troyer (Mini Me), and R. Lee Ermey (Full Metal Jacket) seem to be the biggest snubs, although Donen's death was so recent you can explain that.

Speaking of the Oscars, I'm disappointed to see no stories on that here in the Spin Room on the show (especially because we've already seen Trump tweet out on Spike Lee's speech). Ratings were slightly up but still low in general - the ongoing trend for award shows. I watched it as always, and didn't even remember they had no host.

Start a thread. Guessing most people who post here don't watch the Oscars, I didn't.
I binge watched "I shouldn't be alive" last night.

For twenty or so years of our married life my wife and I watched the Oscars. We haven't since. Now all it has become is a Hollywood Liberal Circle Jerk.

Mark Hollis, founder and lead singer of the 80's British alternative rock group Talk Talk is dead at the age of 64. I definitely remember loving their two biggest U.S. hits (Talk Talk and It's My Life) while listening to them on my old walkman in college. They were in the same category as ABC, A Flock of Seagulls, and the Thompson Twins. They might be the only group in music history to have a hit song (well minor hit at least) that was the same name as their group?
