Carly Graham, a junior setter from Oak Ridge is the Greater Houston Player of the Year, and she has already pledged to the Owls.

And she's only a junior. Very impressive. Everything I've seen about her says that she's also a class act. Link: http://www.yourconroenews.com/sports/art...788529.php

Welcome to Rice, Carly!

Great recruit but how are we doing in this year's recruiting class? Why can't we get more great volleyball players in the Houston area? This is a hotbed for volleyball players. We should be a top 50 volleyball program every year and a top 25 program at least every 3 years.

Welcome to Rice, Carly!
The Utah recruit sounds very impressive. Hopefully the recruiting is going up a notch.

We could be if we sponsored the sport for both genders. Men's DI has only 52 schools that compete.

That's one way to be top 50!

Men's lacrosse! There are 67 Division I teams, and 18 make the playoffs.

Don't forget that we currently have one coach that can't seem to beat anyone among the top-50. It could be a disaster of epic proportions.

There are 33 Div 1 women's bowling teams.

There are 47 Div 1 women's beach volleyball teams.

There are 17 men's and 23 women's Div 1 rifle teams. Guaranteed top 25 teams, even if they shoot like my sons. And it's an equivalency sport.

There is only 1 men's and 2 women's Div 1 triathlon teams. Also an equivalency sport.

And there are 3 Div 1 synchronized swimming teams, and 1 of them is Incarnate Word. Built in "local" opponent. But it is not an official NCAA sport.

All numbers from http://scholarshipstats.com/default.htm

Graham was one of the three players who signed LOI with Rice yesterday. Also signing were 5-11 middle blocker Anota Adekunle of Summer Creek (same school as Chelsea Harris I believe), and 5-10 outside hitter Hannah Lopez of San Antonio Churchill.
