Literacy is key in these discussions. If you're going to disagree with something at least try and get the facts straight. I said a bowl couldn't take the same team three straight years not 2 in 5, huge difference. The same logic is applied by the bowls today that don't want a rematch from the prior year nor a rematch from the regular season. This is a good idea so apathy doesn't set in.

There is no rule in place about rematches, they just don't do it...unless it's a good idea. When you control the selection why make it a rule? What if it was a rematch the entire country wanted to see? Oh sorry we have this stupid rule. What if Boise would have got the access bowl slot and a ranked app and a ranked wmu was setup up to square off in the cammelia? Man that would be huge, oh no sorry we have this stupid self imposed rule of no back to back. You only set yourself up when you impose rules on yourself. Take every year, look at what's in front of you and do what's best. When all you look at is your end game you can't foresee the collateral damage you are Imposing on yourself because there is no way to account for the thousands of possible scenarios that come about.

You see this isn't all bowls, only the SBC side of the bowls. Stay on topic.

What? Good thing every conference and bowl didn't have all theese stupid rules...assigning locations would be like rubix cube.nope can't do that, nope can't do that...not to mention we are tied into bowls with leagues we all play quite a bit in OOC. Learn to be a grown up, you can't change the rules e rrttime you don't get your way.

Every conference does have rules or some sort.

Learn to think, it will serve you well in life.

Our game with Ohio is the only game on in the evening primetime. La Tech vs Navy should be going off about the time we start. Should be good ratings for a Friday night before Christmas eve.

It definitely will be. Last year it did well for itself with the MAC Champ and #3 SBC team.

I hope you break one off in them

I am the one that is actually thinking, try it...picture getting pairings on both sides but the MAC, SBC,cusa all have the no rematches, no back to back, no rematches from previous year and it's the same handful of bowl eligible teams year in and year out trying to be slotted in the same places...everytime you would fit the criteria on one side...you would run into your own rule on the other side. We all play each other in OOC and at the end of the season every year.

They already do this. We are discussing a set of rules specific to the SBC side of the bowls, nothing more. In my scenario ULL can still go to NOLA four out of five years.

A true champion picks it's bowl, that's it. Anything else is just dumb and yes I do know because we recently had a similar rule and as soon as we had enough bowls to do away with it they did. It's funny that the commissioner doesn't think we need rules, the bowls don't think we need rules, ESPN doesn't think we need rules...just you and Tom.

And no they don't, they don't have rules. They say they don't want rematches until they want a rematch...but it's not a rule. There was a rematch in the national title a couple years ago from the same conference division.

To be as clear as possible because you do get confused, avoiding regular season rematches and prior year bowl rematches is NOT is my proposed rule. It's just current common practice.

Beginning in 2019 the SBC will implement additional rules for bowls, sorry you disagree, but changes will occur.

To be clear as f'n possible common practice is not a written rule

Deflection is cute. You argue against a policy you believe I stand for versus the one I've stated very clearly, read and then have a rational discussion.

I don't believe in safe spaces. I believe in hard work and that is what the SBC has put in the last ten years (very much so the old guard including ULL). With hard work comes reward and progress. This mentality has rewarded me throughout my life and based upon your stance on other matters you appear to have a similar mentality.

I do believe in the SBC taking the next step forward as a conference as I believe we have more leverage in the current system than we did five years ago due to the number of bowls and bowl eligible teams. Before the bowls didn't need the SBC inventory, now they do.

Every other conference has a system in place that helps the members on the conference in the bowl selection process, in 2019 the SBC will take a step in that direction as well. I look forward to growing as a conference. Good luck to ULL in their efforts to continue elevating the SBC, we all need each other to do that.

We both agree we need to grow and move forward, I just don't believe voluntarily painting ourselves in a corner is the way to do it. Exactly like the rematch thing there is a reason it's common practice and not a written rule...because it leaves the option open if it makes sense.
