One terrible inning aided by a 5 hour a rain delay. UNCW had a solid team this year, but in the end we both failed to win the regional. Your stud catcher is gone, big loss.

Knocking you guys off made the sting a whole lot better! We did lose Jeffers but this is honestly one of the best cores returning i can remember in a while.

You will have a solid squad and probably be the CAA favorites. We will be preseason top 15.

You were #12 as of Sunday, we both know how that worked out for you :)
In all seriousness, i never put much stock into preseason rankings. But i honestly have no idea who you have coming/going.

We basically return the bulk of our team. Dwanya Williams-Sutton is the only JR that's projected to leave at this point.

We were the better team this year by every metric, your needling doesn't effect me. Maybe had you gone onto win the regional you would have some smack to talk, but you didn't.

No kidding, you were a national seed and hosted a regional. We don't have to needle you because the team put you out of the one game that you had to have. Our coach was very complimentary of your team, coach, and direction of your program. Everyone that follows UNCW Baseball knows that we have to make institutional improvements to get to the level we aspire. Even still, we knocked out two fully funded programs in the regional.

We bounced you from your own regional, played a day longer. No matter what metric you want to put out there, that's one you can't get back. Don't act like it didn't sting, most ECU folks had dreams of Omaha, and we SQUASHED THEM!

Our dreams were struggletown once we lost to SC on Saturday. Coming out of the losers bracket is a monumental task.

It is after game 1, after game 2 tough, but i wouldn't say monumental.

Yeah, ECU fans are the worst.

Most everyone outside of Alumni would agree with that statement. Carolina fans are worse, but , well, they have actually won something.

These guys rate Jayden Gardner as a top 5 returning freshman in the nation, #4 projected best returning player in the AAC, and 1st team all AAC projected.

"If he takes a step up from last year then he’ll be one of the best players in the country, yes, country. "… *“I really think Jayden Gardner is special.” … busting brackets

https://bustingbrackets.com/2019/08/25/n...2019-20/9/

They also rated Tremont Robinson as the #3 biggest impact JUCO in the nation. Both he and Gardner have 3 years left...

Football won't exist 50 years from now; nothing outside of fundamentally changing the way the game is played will ever make the game safer. The helmets do nothing. And watching ECU struggle like this just adds another reason why having football is overrated.

To the good programs out there, enjoy the 6 Saturday's a year while you can.

I'm not attempting to defend ezu here, so please definitely don't this in that fashion.

However, we all know football is almost more of a cultural thing than an appreciation for the actual sport, especially in a college atmosphere. Who knows, maybe you're right that in 50 years it will be a thing of the past. But I doubt it. There are other sports far more dangerous than football that still exist... boxing for one. Hell, a guy died after a match just several weeks ago and that sport isn't going away.

Throw in the fact that culturally, football is almost as much a part of the college life fabric as is going to the library at most schools and good luck getting rid of it. Especially if by doing so, those schools and the NCAA would lose so much money. There's going to have to be something to economically fill that void before they'd ever venture into seriously letting it go.

It was actually 2 guys died in boxing in one week recently. I think that's a good example though of a sport that's hay day passed and now only the most desperate in society compete in.

I actually agree and think football going to see a similar fate in popularity and participation over the next few decades that has already started. I find myself not interested in supporting it much anymore now that we know it damages young people so much.

It's had it's place though and the leaders in the 70's that went all in on football before anyone knew made the right call. It built a lot of facilities around here that got us to peer conferences with some big time schools. My hope now is that the leaders have some vision and transition more towards hoops moving forward.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with you both on that level. I just feel like there is going to have to be some significant $$$ replacement if the NCAA, NFL, and all the subsidiary benefactors (sports media, tele companies, etc) would let it die.

Personally, I still see a lot of young kids competing and taking up the sport so I think it's going to take a lot more to curb that enthusiasm for "football culture" in America. And tying it back to the almighty dollar, once the benefiting media realize they built a bridge too far and start to lose $$$ (think ESPN deals with P6, etc)... they'll kick back into support mode and all of a sudden you'll probably see a bunch of stuff on how safe new equipment makes the game, etc.

It's always about money. So, unless there's a viable money replacement...

I mean look... now we have MMA that is equally as dangerous if not more. It's more violent than standard boxing, and it's consumed by customers on a ravenous level right now by comparison. So... let's not pretend human nature doesn't find entertainment in violence and easily dismiss injuries.

RE: EZU Can Suck It
I think MMA is safer, many of those fights end in submission and the ones that don't are usually just quick knockdowns where the ref jumps on them immediately and stops it even if it's kind of brutal, it's ended quick. In boxing these guys walk around punch drunk for 12 rounds instead of 3, and might even get dropped 2 or 3 times and get back up. Lot more damage taken in the aggregate I think.

I don't think football is going anywhere anytime soon but eventually I think it will be marginalized to the poorest communities looking for a way out or the rural towns that worship Friday nights and deny a lot pretty obvious science anyway. I think as more and more people don't let their kids play that will trickle down to the general fandom as well as there is no connection.

I played football as a kid and liked football as much as anyone until more has become known about it. Did you see Gronk basically cry talking about what it's done to him? I think eventually a lot of people will have more trouble supporting it as well like me.

We got our money's worth out if it, it's the programs like ODU and UNCC that started it this century at the expense of their basketball they completely missed the boat IMO trying to play catch up.
