so who's going down? I'm thinking of heading down in a rental car (I hate flying anymore) and getting some golf in before Christmas. Not sure I can make it work out.

Interesting...

Quote:This season, the Camellia Bowl...had the first selection of a MAC school. Once Western Michigan went the Cotton Bowl, ESPN Events and bowl officials felt Toledo was the best fit for a good matchup with Appalachian State...The final MAC selection was the Miami Beach Bowl, which chose Central Michigan.

No matter how MOB spins it, this bowl game sucks. I hope they have at least 10,000 at the game, but it only holds 21,000. Enjoy Ala, we get a lot of football players out of that state.

I don't know how you can view this bowl game as"sucks." We get a quality opponent in App St. It's located somewhere where the temp is above freezing and it's a winnable game. After putting up with our defense all season I certainly didn't want a matchup against a Power 5 opponent that could score at will. I've been waiting for years to play Appalachian St and I hope our guys are fired up for this one. It's going to be a great game...

App fans are going to go, I believe they sold it out last season. I will not be there only because I have prior commitments Saturday morning (who would have thought our bowl game would be so early?). App fans have an expectation that there will be about 20% more people there than Ohio brought last season. We shall see.

It may not be a high profile P5 team, but this is a good matchup of well regarded G5 teams which promises to be a good football game. Hopefully the team enjoys their time in Alabama and brings home a Rocket victory.

I expect close to a couple million viewers for the Camellia Bowl in this Saturday time slot. The Miami Beach Bowl(12/19/16) with its early Monday afternoon start had 1.2 million viewers in 2015's WKU?USF match up.
This is a made for TV event, fan bases are a secondary concern.
