Bowl prep beneficial for young Eagles
Jay Hopson and his coaching staff will count on a large group of unproven youngsters to assume vital roles for a team that’s losing more than 20 seniors, including 15 that are either starters or primary backups. Hopson and his staff redshirted 12 of the 15 high school seniors it signed in February partially because of the high volume of contributors they knew would exit after this season. Bowl preparation is a major part of their development.

Then don't. I'm sure you'll find other bad things to think about the Eagles. Meanwhile, I'll be looking for the things that make me happy and proud about USM.SMTTT

disclaimer: the following excludes coaching criticism 03-wink

if we get the qb situation figured out (could see Parker/Keon as a dual package) AND pick up some decent linebackers, I see no reason we shouldn't have a winning season next year....

MORE ITO/Parks, Staggers, and Allen (who I really hope is involved more next season) are a pretty good base to have in the skill positions going in....the rest will be a year older and have a year under their belt with Hop and corp.

outside of losing a few key guys, I don't see what's not to like.....also, a solid recruiting class should be expected at this point....

at least half of our games next year are 'cake' on paper....

some folks just like to be little whiny biatches.....it's all they know

04-cheers

Really wish the negative people would carry their interests to other teams. Yes, this year was a disappointment, but I think long-term the defense improves and that could win the conference. Fedora was 7-6, 7-6 first two seasons. And he didn't inherit the Ellis mess. Give it some time. Enjoy the bowl!

I don't mind going into a season with a lot of unknowns. All the hype we got this year meant absolutely nothing once the season started. I think being an underdog keeps the guys mentally focused better anyway. 04-cheers

Don't think for a minute this won't be bookmarked. You have made your prediction.
Or were you just trolling.

I can't remember a season where we were double digit favorites more often in any one year....

not only did we not achieve expectations, but we couldn't have asked for an easier schedule.....

that's where many are nervous going into next year....I know I am....

...no way we have a winning season next year...4 wins max...1-11 is a distinct possibility.

copy it, save it, bookmark it....tattoo it on your forehead.

you've been warned.

Who is board acting bookie? I'd like to get in on this one. Players in place for six wins, coaches will mature in respective positions. 2017 won't be anything special but shouldn't be terrible

Of course thats my two cents which will not get anyone much

I never give up on my Eagles and never criticize them even in one-sided losses when I see they didn't give up. I have zero control over talent level at USM so I give it zero considerations ... if the guys are giving it 100% so will I.

That said - regarding "cake", in the other half we will most likely be considered "cake". Just saying.

I hope Hopson gets a bit more out of the defense (stop the 50 yard plays) and Keon learns to hold on to the ball and read the coverage a bit better. That alone would be worth 3 games.

...then you would have shelled out $4,000 to me after taking a Lovely double digit home dog in Southern Miss and the Under vs ooo la Tek.

2 dimes on both sides made for a mighty fine tuesday pickup from charlie charlie!.......and who was it that played against a 2 digit home dog again...with Mullens back...and a bowl bid on the line?....jeeeenius.
