Not really. Zero = zero.
The football schools wouldn't support UConn, who brought with them two of the best basketball programs ever and had at least shown that they could compete in the weakest power conference by winning the Big East one year. Tell me why they would support a school that brings not only weaker basketball but even weaker football than UConn had at the time?
Enjoy the AAC. You are going to be there for a long, long time.
I will believe qwerty (who has posted the accurate behind the scenes events of the Big East when Pitt/Syracuse left and is not a Temple troll) versus the Newberry guy who has zero inside information.
He does have a point though. Temple has no chance of getting into the ACC. If we had to expand, and assuming the big 12 is still together, we would go with UCONN and Cincinnati.

And I'll believe the word of both a Clemson BOT member and a big money IPTAY donor when they say there is absolutely no way that Temple will get the support of any of the football first schools over two Temple fanboys over here pimping the virtues of a sub .500 all-time football program. There's a reason that despite winning your conference your are playing a sub .500 ACC team on the home field of one of your conference mates in your bowl.

RE: Temple to the ACC?
While I think Temple to the ACC is a longshot, it's also abundantly clear that football has become the priority for their athletic department. To dismiss them because they don't have the history is short-sighted. It's not like the talk of Temple to the ACC is something that's going to happen in 3-5 years, but instead it's looking a decade or more into the future.
If they are able to build an on-campus stadium in the heart of Philadelphia, continue to grow their football fanbase and remain in the top tier of the AAC, I think they would be very attractive to the ACC down the line. The Philly market in the ACC footprint would be a positive for the league. And any arguments that Pitt already does that miss the boat - it's a 5 hour drive between those cities.

The 2 statements in bold are the key. Temple lacks football history right now, but IF they could put together a decade of dominating the AAC, winning at least 60% of their games against P5 teams, having 50,000+ in attendance at home games, etc... THEN I could see an invite to the ACC... MAYBE.

RE: Temple to the ACC?
it is so funny folks on this board are taking seriously the addition of Temple, UCONN, Cinci.
so badly want to go BACK to the Big East days.
There are almost ZERO schools you can add and make it worth while. Just more mouths to feed that don't close the gap with the B1G and SEC. When will Tobacco Road learn?

Which Tobacco Road fan wants to add one of those teams right away? As for me, if they can pull an FSU like the 1980-90s, let's talk.

Will they continue winning the AAC with another coach?

One Philly sportswriter is lobbying for Charlie Strong.

I hear Strong being mentioned for several jobs (WKU, Cincy) but I think he would wait a year before stepping down to a G5 job.
