True, but in every other sport, all conference champions go to the tournament.

The 4 team system is fine once the Big 12 gets a title game. It just has to be changed to the top 4 conference champions. Now in that system the best teams won't always win the championship but that is true for every other major sport. The key is keeping the regular meaniful and reducing the human impact of the committee. That's why expanding it to 8 doesn't make sense since it would reduce the impact on regular season play. An eight team playoff means the OSU Michigan meant nothing. Just like the Big Ten championship game and the SEC championship game meant nothing this year by no mandating only conference champions.

I agree with only conference champions except there would need to be a qualification added. If PSU was 9-2 and lost to 6-5 Wiscy, you can't have them included in CFP. I would also exclude ND since there are 2-3 conferences who would take them in as members.

Yep, I guess the American way is to put a shotgun to someone's head and force them to join something, allegedly a voluntary organization, against their will.

Yes and No. As of today, there are 5 conferences so one will always be left out. There strength of schedule could be the difference. But it's not like OOC really mattered this year with Washington's inclusion. Oklahoma would be in the playoffs if they had Washingtons OOC schedule.

Unfortunately when you're looking at strenght of schedule, you're penalizing a team for scheduling when a team was stronger but no longer is....thinking of Washington specifically.
