RE: Those refs though.....
I expected that we would get a favorable nod by the refs, considering that seems to be what happens in these games in situations like we had. But just the opposite. MAC refs have historically proven to be grossly incompetent, and did not make en exception for this game. Terrible; and my guess is that even Ohio fans would conceed that.

That pass interference call on the deep route was the hottest of trash I've EVER seen from a MAC crew. Both players had rights to the ball.

Is what it is. It's the MAC title game the favorite will not get breaks we are 13-0 I could care less about the refs now.

We then maybe not incompetence, more like conspiracy.

The ESPN crew said they were the highest rated officials at each position throughout the season in the MAC

RE: Those refs though.....
Our DB (Jackson) gave the Ohio receiver a little arm bar with his left arm as the pass was descending.

Could have been a no call especially since ball was slightly overthrown but it wasn't.

All judgment.

How one views such things depends on whose ox is getting gored.

The officials did a fine job, had no impact on outcome or score of the contest.

I agree other than they missed the call where Terrell got picked the first time. One of the ohio dbs punches our reciever in the face didn't see who it was. Just caught the action on the screen on a replay. But I thought the officials were fine.

I agree. But if I'm not mistaken the 2 PI calls were drive sustaining calls on 3rd down that lead to OU touchdowns. Could have absolutely played an impact on the outcome. Gross incompetence.

That could be part of the issue in the way they work together. Not much time to work on their chemistry. Relying on basic mechanics only.

I don't know if there is a breakdown of who threw what flags, but it seemed to me that the field (or side) judge seemed to be a little trigger happy...

Jim Delaney also just said that the committee will make decisions with the best interest of the sport in mind. So there's that.

RE: Those refs though.....
Some of the calls against WMU were questionable at best. Which is fine, but if you're going to call those ticky-tack calls...do it both ways. Ohio got away with a number of holding calls, late hits and other crap that I personally saw, plus whatever I didn't see.

Make those calls, or don't. Just be consistent.

RE: Those refs though.....
The officials were a MAC "All-Star" crew - best of the best at their positions based on ratings (including from coaches).

As Chuck Noll told his Pittsburgh Steeler teams - "Play better than the officials officiate" so you don't have to leave it up to them.

We didn't play great offensively, but won the game.

Officiating had nothing to do with it.

RE: Those refs though.....
I agree Hoople. Our Broncos did not play well in some aspects and it showed with settling for field goals, unnecessary penalties, dropped passes, blown coverage, etc..

I'm not blaming the officials for anything. WMU was still the better team on that field and earned the win. The penalties just seemed to be one-sided.
