I love taking the metro to Nats games because you see Big Blue's face literally all over that stop. It's great haha
It looks good, is very visible and I know from experience it also costs a fortune. I do hate that its still only promoting online courses. In many ways that hurts our brand and positions us as a for profit school along the lines of Phoenix. Meanwhile, at least according to this site, ODU has now been surpassed not only by GMU, and VCU (which we were identical to just over a decade ago), but now Longwood, Radford and even Regent. I don't know what Broderick is doing, but if we continue this downward trajectory we will have dropped from an upper half VA university to practically the bottom. Something has to change. Its getting embarrassing. https://www.collegefactual.com/rankings/...ia/p3.html

Quote:Students at Old Dominion University call her Miss Ruby.
Her smiling face is one of the first ones they see when they go to Broderick Dining Commons to swipe their meal card. Her gold nametag says exactly what she is: the director of first impressions. She's also the lead cashier.
"How you doin', baby?" she says to each student. Most return her smile, some greet her back. On their way out, she tells them to have a good day.
She's been at it for 50 years.
Just reminds me that above all the ads and uniforms and tv time...how we conduct ourselves is the best way to improve the ODU brand.
So true. Every professor, staff member, employee, student and graduate represents the ODU brand. Its nice to read something good about the ODU experience and service provided to students.
After spending most of my adult life in Tidewater, I moved to Florida in 2012. Even though I am now 1,100 mile away, I am still trying to expand ODU's brand in the Sunshine state via Facebook. Please "like" the page so FB will give it more exposure
ODU name recognition and reputation west of I95 is awful. Losing to Liberty just set the ODU brand back even more. We have a chance to make some positive headlines out there and wind up looking like the community college opener for Liberty. Not good for the brand.

ODU says the military reduced tuition is already having an impact;
Quote:The tuition reduction is already having an impact. Deborah L. Swiecinski, associate vice president for financial services, said that as of Aug. 29, the credit hour enrollment rate had increased by 7.8 percent compared with the same time a year ago. She added that students will continue to enroll over the next few weeks.

Its not relevant to the race. Its relevant to branding. Its showing how JMU markets itself to the racing community vs. how ODU does. A beautiful full graphic car or a tiny logo somewhere. One could argue that JMU attracts more potential racing fans than ODU so its a better investment, but VCU has the car right next to them in that photo all decked out looking good too. The fact that the driver is an ODU student is even cooler and more reason for the school to support him. Plus, the photos of a car like that would be great to use on the website, in brochures, magazine articles, PR, video etc. so you get more use out of a sponsorship than just the one race.

Liberty is all over all 3 of the main NASCAR series, but they have the money for that. It doesn't hurt that William Byron is also a LU student driving in the top series. I don't think we'll ever see that from ODU, plus it's a dying sport hurting for $$$.
