This same discussion has been going on for 30+ years now! Identical!!. Fans write the AD and nothing happens. Truth of the matter is they don't give a **** as to what you think or suggest. All they want from you is MORE DONATIONS! Forget image improvement or entertainment, it just isn't going to happen.

My eyes are literally bleeding, who in the ODU athletics department is spreading these graffiti graphics????

Somebody purchased a font package and is going to squeeze out as much value as possible!
Haha I literally just said the same thing to my wife as I showed her this. I said "it's like someone bought a font pack and is going nuts or they just learned about Adobe actions."

Posted from mobile device. Hopefully it's coherent.

Anyone wonder why we have so many twitter and facebook accounts for both academics and athletics? Consolidation seems like it would lead to better results.

Astute observation. And 100% correct too.

I don't know. While I want all things ODU and ODU athletics to succeed, I only intimately care about some programs. Having the individual social media accounts lets you follow what you want and tune out what you don't really care about it.

Ya, it would be overload if you had to wade through everything. Plus it allows each coach and sport to have it's own identity.

Got this response today from Tina price. Pretty classy.

The graphics that you are referencing for football and men's tennis were designed to target recruits using a popular "graffiti" style and probably shouldn't have been used on our website, where our audience is a different demographic.
The graphics were received quite positively on social media, but you'll be seeing a different art style on our website and thru e-mail.

Thanks again for your support as we continually try to do communicate our brand through different media.

Sincerely,
Tina Price

I hope they know what they’re doing. I don’t see other schools using that style and they seem to be out recruiting us.

Im glad she reached out to you and acknowledged it probably shouldnt have been used. Pretty classy for a VCU grad, at least she made up for it by getting her masters at ODU.

Not to be rude, but I don't think she is very good at her job. After reading her bio, it appears everything she is in charge of is continuously complained about on this forum.

I’m all fairness, everything discussed on this forum is complained about.

That’s a decent point. But we also don’t know what restraints she is under. It could be she has a small rookie underpaid staff of students, no budget. no resources, a committe of idiots that have to approve eveything and force her to make bad stuff, or other things. Certainly, most of the work coming out of her office is in need of improvement, but that doesn’t necessarily mean she’s not talented. I have to let bad stuff go out at my job sometimes because the boss comes in at the last second demanding a project that should take weeks, and do it in one day, with no budget, political hurdles and no help. Then when you miraculously give them something Decent, they force their own ideas into it pushing stuff over the edge into awfulness. That could certainly be the case here. Or maybe she is really bad... I mean, she is from VCU.

I'm as in to the vcu rivalry as anyone but to think they put out bad graphics or marketing ppl is less likely than small budget and micromanagement.

Absolutely agree. I was just being snarky against VCU people in general. They have a good art program there. No question.

I don't get it. Some of the stuff they put out is really solid. The football schedule posters have been great the last three years. The magnet schedules were really good for football and basketball this year once they went back to horizontal. Then they put out some hot garbage like the website and let the individual teams have too much leeway with their social media look (Hi Tennis!). There has to be an internal style guide for more than just logo usage right? If not there really should be.
