Somebody fill me in, what's the deal with Chadwell? I understand he is a good football coach, but there are a lot of good football coaches out there. Why is the Southern fan based so enamored with this 1 guy?

He's done a very good job at a school where many of the players played in a larger stadium in high school. He took NDSU to OT while having lesser athletes. He's pretty affordable for us. He runs an offense that probably most of the fan base can agree on.

He is a perfect fit IMO.

RE: summers fired?
Georgia Southern is kind of in a unique situation. Their fan base desparetly wants to run a particular offense because it's part of their history. By wanting this, it makes their options for new football coaches very limited because there just aren't many guys out there running it. On the other side of the coin, a coach may stay longer than they would at say Arkansas State because not many schools are looking to run that particular type of offense. They only really have to be concerned if a service academy opens or GT assuming they want to stay with the TO. Fritz was sort of an anomaly because he ran a different kind of option.

This statement annoys me to no end, but I get it. #TexasForever #LetsWinState

That is as good of an observation of the lay of the land as an opposing fan can have, kudos!

There's dozens of pages of arguing on our board from circa 2011 debating the merits of the option from under center versus the shotgun or pistol. Now that Jeff Monken and Willie Fritz have both moved on those are pretty much nonexistent.

If you score points at Georgia Southern our fans will get behind you.

I will say, though, that all other considerations being equal I will choose an option coach over a non-option coach. I don't buy into the idea all offenses are created equal.

It's hard to schedule triple option teams in OOC also. A lot of schools don't want to play them due to the uncertainty of the offense and not wanting to prepare for it only once a year.

Many of our fans would agree with him. I sure do. I've said before that we might as well start piling up the non-conference games for the future as long as Summers is here.

In our down period from 2006-2009 we got games with Colorado State, UNC, Navy, and Alabama (after Saban told us no when he was at LSU). We weren't running the option in those years and before we could only seem to play UGA, Auburn, Florida, Miami, et al.

Somehow this year we magically got a home and home with Houston. Coincidence?

RE: summers fired?
BTW,

Just this week we've had a couple of revelations relating to the coaching staff...

1. Our strength and conditioning coach has had harassment complaints against him and has apparently lawyered up for wrongful termination (if we fire Summers does this become moot?)

2. Chris Foster, formerly the running backs coach at App State and now our running backs coach, has apparently been revealed as the culprit of some illegal contact with recruit's parents that has landed App STate a $5000 fine.

I'm all for giving people second chances, but with our program under investigation when Summers took over the program this really seems like it's really risky hires by Summers, and overall has very bad judgement across the board for hiring a staff.

Add to that DUI's by our football operations manager and our declining recruiting rankings, this has been a complete s***-show in just one year.

I was having my doubts as to whether or not Summers would be let go after this year, but I'm starting to think we absolutely have to pull the trigger or deeper trouble could be down the road.

What you are underestimating is the coaching candidates. There is an abundant amount of quality coaches for TO. The bidding for them is rather low because there's not a demand for them bc of the offense they run. Southern and military schools are probably the only fan bases in full support of TO.
