Things about to get ugly in Huntington?
But Marshall’s unforeseen plummet from the top of the C-USA mountain down to the jaggedy rocks lying below apparently has more to do with things that have gone on behind closed doors than what happened in front of small crowds and on TV stations no one is watching.
Rumors of infighting, immorality and malcontent are running rampant. Specific incidents will not be reported here until they become substantiated fact, but where there is smoke, there is fire.
In this case, it’s a blazing inferno.

I am sorry about this, as I have some personal ties to Marshall.
This is what I posted on our site
Quote:Holliday may indeed be on a short leash. Marshall has the best recruits/personnel in the conference, and will again next year as well.
This Marshall team represents a meteoric dive of almost historic proportion. Worse, although everyone can have a down year or two, Doc lost this team. We saw that when we sacked Litton, he was down, and the rest of the offense walked off the field, including his OLinemen.
I think Holliday gets another season, but I expect substantial changes within his coaching ranks, but I also wouldn't be surprised to see him "resign" after this season.

Even during USM's 2012 season, there was still a little fight in the team. Watching Marshall (my wife is a Marshall grad, so I go to and watch a lot of Marshall) this season, it was sad how the team looked like they didn't want to be on the field. Doc was no longer in control of the team. Without some major changes, this slump will drag on for at least another season.

I've read rumors that Litton may even transfer out, and several others apparently. If that's the case, expect Xavier Gaines to potentially be our starting QB next year as a redshirt Freshman. Shew, what an absolute nightmare of a season this has been. The effects will be felt for at least one more season, and most likely for a couple more beyond that.

Isn't immorality usually the kind of thing that helps recruiting?

I wonder if ODU would go after Litton (assuming Marshall allows it). I know they think very highly of his ability.
I agree with others though, USM showed fight at ODU. FIU did until they were deflated in the 3Q. Marshall didn't even seem interested.

For whatever reason, that story has been taken down.

That's why the Marshall-Middle Tennessee game is so odd to me. Three straight losses and getting uglier by the minute, then everyone snaps into place and looks like the Marshall of old against Middle, then it's back down the terlet in the last two games. Was the plane crash anniversary that get them into the right frame of mind? It was like they took a vacation from dysfunction.

Part of it is we were in dumpster fire state when we played Marshall. Emotional game plus falling apart at the seams is a recipe for disaster.

"Immorality" is an interesting word choice. I hope things aren't as bad as they sound, CUSA needs Marshall to be good.

If Litton leaves it will be for reasons that would make your coaches not want him. Skill is only one aspect of being a good QB, and not necessarily the most important. Just rumors at this point, but it's where the immorality word choice comes from in the news story. It's the reason that even though it was said to be an injury that kept him out of the WKU game, he was no where in the stadium and neither was our starting RB. It's the kind of reason that leads to your offensive linemen leaving you laying on the ground by yourself when sacked.
