If you are basing these rankings solely upon the results of this past weekend and "not considering the entire season", then teams like North Texas would be in the upper half and others like LA Tech would be in the lower half of the rankings. It would appear that Southern Miss is the only team that you applied that logic to in developing your rankings.

I think his resoning was that this week WKU, USM, and ODU would all have beaten Tech based on their performance, but Tech would have still beaten teams 5-13 this week. It's not that unreasonable of an assertion based on opponent and how the teams performed.

Not willing to put them ahead of WKU, ODU, or even LT (despite the stumble on Saturday).

That was not the same QB as this week though. The bad QB spotted you 21 points then won 35-30 over the final 3 quarters. If Nick Mullens played against ODU as well as he played against Tech, I bet that game would have had a different outcome. It's not the same team without him. I'm ranking this week's team only.

And IF David Washington played against Southern Mississippi as well as he played a couple of weeks ago in winning offensive player of the week (over 400 yards passing and 5 TD passes), I bet that game's outcome would have been the same if not worse for Southern Mississippi. It's easy to pick a player and say if they had played in some other game as well as they did in that one then that other outcome would have been different. Lawry played injured much of the early part of this season for ODU. If he had been better off health wise things might have been different for ODU in some of those early losses too. It doesn't matter though because injuries are just part of the game.

I think it is different to say if a player plays better one game vs another than if a team plays with their 3rd string QB. Anyway, ODU whipped USM... end of story.

Which is why there is no way USM should be #2. Just because they whooped LT doesn't magically put them 2nd best in conference. They have a lot of bad losses.

Entire season they were middle of the pack. Right now, if they have corrected all the turnovers and dropped passes, and giving up explosive plays, and the Senior QB is healthy, they are at the top in talent.

If the Tech game was a fluke and they just had 1 good game, then they still suck.

USM had Mullens for the UTSA game. Didn't have him for UNT or ODU IIRC.

WKU (37) won't move much by beating LaTech (69), since LaTech just lost to USM (100). They'll then play a #50 - 60 ranked team in a bowl, so I don't see any way for WKU to crack the top 25. Pulling for LaTech, but if WKU does win, hope they do crack the top 25.

Mullens had to come out of the game with an injury to his throwing hand. He then came back in and played with an injured hand. He also played LSU with the hand injury.

UTSA whipped USM, we can move on.

WKU will need to bet Tech and also somebody like Tusa , USF, Memphis , Houston or Navy in the Bowl to get pushed into the top 25. Our performance has been dominant of late , but not agasint top rated competition per the eyes that judge

Well, lets see. Top 30 in total offense. Top 20 in total defense. Win over not only LaTech but a 7-5 SEC team in Kentucky. Yeah, hit a big dip when Mullens went out along with others and had to start a true freshman. But, a lot better than Number 117. The difference.....-18 in turnovers. 6-6 with that differential is pretty good.

The defense Southern Miss played in Norfolk didn't look top 20. I realize that ODU got some turnovers, but I don't remember them having much trouble moving down the field when they had the ball. Maybe their heads just weren't in the game due to the turnovers.

That was a microcosm of their season. Defense didnt give up many yards because the offense and special teams gave the other team the ball in good position and the available yards was low.

They were top whatever in total yards, but not good on a yards per play basis.

Stats are for losers, but you were outgained 452-320 with our 3rd string, true freshman QB...

Now, you were starting from our 20 yd line many times due to our QB rumbling, bumbling, fumblin' 4 times, so we made it hard for you guys to rack up much yardage. 03-lmfao

Good Luck in your bowl..04-cheers

Tier 1

1. Western Kentucky - It's been clear for a while now.
2. La Tech - One speed bump. We'll see how the Dawgs respond.
3. Old Dominion - Consistent enough to make the top tier. Get that bowl win. Get 10 wins. Great year. Stupid conference for not letting us see a ODU/MT matchup.

Tier 2

4. Middle Tennessee - Basketball score victory is still a victory. Sucks that Stockstill got hurt. Go win a bowl.
5. Southern Miss - That's the Southern Miss I expected to see all season. I'm sure it was nice to put a frustrating season into a beating of your division champ. Now go win a bowl!

Tier 3

6. UTSA - Go win your bowl. You've had a good first season under the new coach.
7. North Texas - If you get that bowl, go win it, but NT, you guys are dangerous going into next season.

Tier 4

I literally have no idea how to rank the following. Week to week you all manage to surprise, confuse, and disappoint all around. Congrats. FAU wins the bottom award because you gave up a basketball score. Get your crap together Marshall. Everyone gets a year like this every now and again. Good luck on the hires and growth for the rest.

8. FIU
9. UTEP
10. Rice
11. Charlotte

Excellent job and not because you have Western first. Just a really clean breakdown. La Tech manhandled everyone except USM. I thought USM would have a shot but did not expect them to beat Tech. I guess the Tech folks are right about Holtz coming off a bye. It's the only thing that explains it after the way Tech did business all year. That and USM not giving the ball away all day long.

This is not to get the ODU people mad. I promise. Not trolling at all. I'm very impressed with what they've done to everyone else. 9-3 doesn't lie. But I didn't see anything out of them in our game. I was more impressed with the job they did last year at their place.

Maybe it was just one of those games.

RE: Week 13 CUSA Power Rankings
I really don't know what to make of this season.
I still believe that Marshall had the the best talent, followed maybe by USM.

When we sacked Litton, and he was on the ground, and the entire offense walked back to the sidelines, including the OL, It was clear to me that Holliday had lost that team.
One has to wonder if he can get it back next year.

Western Kentucky had the best offense, in large part because of it's OL, despite LaTech's stats. Brohm proved he could field an offensive juggernaut w/o Doughty.

UTEP, FAU, and Rice really disappointed, but clearly Marshall was a startling surprise.
On the other hand, UNCC was a pleasant surprise.
MTSU with a healthy Stockstill still has to edge ODU, however at the end of the season it was thus:

1. WKU
2. LT
3. ODU
4. MTSU
5. UTSA
6. USM
7. UNT
8. FIU
9. UNCC
10. MU
11. FAU
12. UTEP
13. RICE

Of course, if you are judging by that one game, you have no option but to be discouraged by ODU. I'm not sure what happened that game, but they didn't show up. There was some talk that the team got a little cocky after 3 straight wins and thought they would just roll in and win. Who knows? I know the team played a lot better in every game than they did vs. WKY; even vs. App State and NC State.

We pretty much manhandled every other conference foe and got manhandled by Western Kentucky. That would imply WKY would be about 8 touchdowns better than those CUSA teams, lol.

8. FIU
9. UTEP
10. Rice
11. Charlotte
12. Marshall
13. FAU

We might be below UAB this season...

We beat both tier 3 teams... although you have is 4? Is that due to your eye test? We beat them pretty easy too.
