Otsego, staying downtown is awesome. I've stayed at the RenCen and the Casinos and they've all been great experiences.

I second this, Downtown Detroit is fantastic.

I second this, Downtown Detroit is fantastic.

There is a ton of new places to eat as well as lots of new micro brews and craft distillers. If your so inclined the casinos are another place that can be fun. There are also many new retailers that have opened so there are a lot of shops to browse with lots of merchandise that you might not find in chain stores.

My vote would be for Old Shillelagh in Greek Town. An easy walk down Brush St. from Ford Field. An old Irish bar with a great environment. On Friday night there should be a DJ on the first floor and live music on the second level.
