On defense back then, Mark Brandon was fun to watch - how he was able to cover guys so much bigger than he was.

I remember Brandon as well. Used to imitate him playing flag football with how he would get right up on a receiver and crouch down low - then never letting the guy get more than 2 feet from him. He was listed at 5'9", but that may have been generous.

I saw Ealey play in only 1 game live - and it was his last home game at the Glass Bowl against Kent State. Saw him on TV only during the Bowl games, but listened to a lot of games on the radio. Has to be my favorite because he refused to lose.

Other favorites:

Taylor, Tait, Hunt - running backs
QB - Gradkowski (after Ealey) Kelso
WR - L. Moore, Cody Thompson, Brock Kreitzburg (like the possession types of receivers that can also take it the distance - just catch the ball)

Def. Kennedy, Brandon, Baker, Rhea (sp?), D.Williams, entire units in 1970/71 and 2000; B. Williams, Mel Long Sr.

It is too difficult to call. So many good players at the college level that no matter who you list, you miss others. Also liked Roland Moss when I was pretty young. Never saw him play, but heard so much about him and I loved the name.

Moss was the first running back in the line of most excellent backs that have worn the Toledo uniform through the years. He was 6-4, and 215 pounds playing in the Glass Bowl. He was drafted by the old Baltimore Colts where he became a tight end.

He was the featured back on the first Toledo team to win a conference championship, along with Schneider, Kramer, Wyper, Flynn, and the rest of the "old breed.

Mel Triplett, Frank Baker, and Jim Gray had their moments on the old Glass Bowl grass but Moss was the progenitor for the all of the favorite backs mentioned in this thread.

Only saw Moss twice but I recall him being bigger than many of the linemen.

I was at UT when Mike Kennedy was there. The University printed Football Schedule cards with a Kennedy For Heisman Campaign. He was the man then. I wonder what happened to him?
