RE: SBC Bowl Scenarios: Week 13
So, looking at APR's, its actually possible that ULM can still make a bowl.

Going through the APR list for eligible 5-7 teams

1. North Texas
2. Mississippi State
3. Texas
4. Northern Illinois
5. ULM

We know that two 5-7 teams will make bowls, so North Texas and Mississippi State are in, as both have indicated they will accept a bid. (Even though I'm not sure UNT fans feel they should take it reading across the street)

If USA or UL lose this weekend, the next slot falls to Texas. Texas is mid coaching change and probably has too much pride to take a bowl at 5-7. That slot falls to Northern Illinois, who would accept given their struggles this year.

However, if USA and UL both lose, then the slot falls to the first 4 5-7 teams. If any single one of those teams declines an invite (and Texas probably will) then ULM would be the next team up. Chances aren't great, but the Warhawks control half of what has to happen since they play UL, and anyone who has watched the Sun Belt this year knows that South Alabama could easily lose to NMSU.

Sure we be fun to get matched up with Memphis in a bowl and let Riley Ferguson pick them over us and kick our ass in one calendar year.

Yes, but if we won, the Tiger message board would be hilarious.

We wouldn't keep it them under 40.

Not awful odds on ULM making bowl. Would be crazy and would definitely accept coming off a coaching change. Could really use the practices.

App to St. Petersburg to play Houston. You don't expect someone would make that prediction publicly without having any sort of information that it's a possibility.

Make it happen Gillin and Benson.

Keep in mind, this can't happen unless both ULL and USA win Saturday.

Well, I guess it could, but the odds are significantly lower.

From what I'm hearing we will be in Mobile. regardless of anything.

Hoping Navy jumps WMU in the polls. so we can get a ranked WMU team.

No you don't. If Navy jumnps WMU, that means the CFP committee will have to wait until Dec 10th to declare the G5 champ, and your Go Daddy opponent may not be known until theen, giving your coaches about a week to actually prepare for the opponent.

From what I'm reading, every single Bowl game is rooting hard for Temple Saturday.

Which is why I was pulling for ULL to beat ASU (mostly because it's best to fill all Bowl slots, nothing personal) and will be pulling for both to win this week.

It would also only give whatever opponent Troy draws one week to prepare for them.

Yep, I don't think a week is such a bad thing. Its as much as we get for any other game.

Attendence wise for Mobile it won't change since a large % of our fan base lives in Mobile or 2 hours around it.

The issue is that you will likely be waiting for Ohio, Toledo, or WMU as your opponent. If it is WMU, you can bet that the Troy group will show up in droves regardless of how short of notice they have.

Side note: Potential bowl games against unfamiliar opponents within a two hour drive must be nice to have.

I want ULL to lose so we can go to the NO bowl. A trip there is very unlikely for App in any given year given our proximity so if the stars align I'd like to experience that one.

A De Facto home game against a ranked opponent in a bowl game sounds positive. Based on the outcome of the Troy - App State game, it's hard to argue that energy form the crowd at the end helped to push Troy over the top on that last drive. Would be interesting to see how they would match-up against WMU.

You want to play a 6-6 USM team as opposed to the MAC champion or possibly an AAC team?

Yeah, for me the opponent is more important than the location.

You'd get far more press for beating Boise State in the Irish Potato Bowl of Idahoans Credit Union than beating a 6-6 team from the worst FBS conference in football in New Orleans.
