I didn't see this myself so I can't confirm or deny but if this is true, not a good sign.
USA today is also predicting that if both win this weekend, then the committee will wait until after Army / Navy Game to pick the Cotton Bowl representative, I assume you all realize what this means, but just in case, let me be clear:
The only way we are going to make it to the Cotton Bowl is if Navy loses one if it's last two games against Temple (yawn) or Army (a team who lost to Buffalo, for crying out loud). There is no other way to read this potential decision by the committee. If WMU is ahead of Navy after this weeks games, there is no logical rationale that could be applied to make a Navy win over Army consequential in the standings UNLESS the committee was planning on supplanting WMU. If we are not named to the Cotton Bowl after this weeks games, then we are not going, barring the hyper-improbable outcome of an Army win over Navy. Either a 13 - 0 WMU team passes the smell test / eye test /political agenda (pick one) of the committee, or it doesn't. We'll find out this weekend.
Yep, we beat up a 9-win team and Navy beat up a 5-win team... and the rankings gap narrowed. Next, we play an 8-win team and Navy has a 9-win team. It's hard not to be suspicious and see the writing on the wall.
I should say that I'm glad the team isn't too focused on this stuff and concentrating on Ohio. This is all for naught if Solich pulls the rug from underneath us.
+1
A record crowd of WMU fans, with signs 13-0 and WMU cotton Bowl will make a strong case
To the Nation and CFP committee that WMU is the correct choice to the Cotton Bowl.

No, it won't make a bit of difference.
The committee's mind is made up. There's just closing Navy by a couple spots week to week so that it doesn't seem obivous.
It's "Anyone but Western Michigan" in the committee room.

Yea, same reason I don't want to play Army.

Wouldn't be surprised if that's the plan.

Every bowl projection, every college football prognosticator I've seen, heard or read, says we are in the Cotton Bowl with a victory on Friday. Not worried if we take care of our business. The committee is just trying to provide some drama.

One cannot exclude that possibility, however unless you have inside information that is still your opinion. It happens to be a very pessimistic opinion, which leads to a passive and victim mindset.
Fact of that matter is that WMU has an opportunity to once again make a case I front of a National audience that they are the best choice for an at large bowl.
To not show up to Detroit to support your team would be a big mistake.

You're correct of course, and I've never wanted so badly to be wrong about something in a very, very long time.
Just keep in mind that Navy has 2 opportunities to make the same case, including one where they're literally the only game on (unless you count the I-AA playoffs.)
I wonder how the historical TV ratings are for the Army-Navy game. Pretty good I would imagine.

Kind of. No more than us making the case playing BSU. One of those games, to a supposed True Analyst, it shouldn't bear much weight. At this point in the season, especially after the season, it has potential to hurt, not help. I could only see it helping if they pulled their starters and their backups were still running all over Army for a full half or something.
