I am concerned about their passing attack coupled with the running ability of both big QBs.

I think this is going to be very close.

As do I. I think we score points on them, but we gotta be able to stop them as well. I think close game.

I heard EMU can't stop the option. :)

The way I see it...we'll start off slow defensively...be behind at the half...then shut them down in the 3rd and 4th quarter while our offense builds up a big lead. Then in garbage time they'll score one more touchdown.

So the final score will not be indicative of how we win the game. They'll score late to make it look respectable.

Cool site!04-rock

Substitute Alabama for EMU and it says it has 68.88% confidence that Bama wins. Suppose one could say we beat Bama head to head 3 out of 10 times. Sweet!

When comparing stats, you need to take into account that they played a more difficult schedule than ODU. WarrenNolan SOS - EMU (98) / ODU (122). Sagarin's SOS - EMU (95) / ODU (136).

EMU had the best win of either team by beating Ohio on the road.

EMU has beaten better teams than the Monarchs this season, but they also have lost to teams not as good. I think it may be one of the closer games we played this year.

This is a good point, but I don't know that there schedule was significantly tougher. It just seems like the lower level MAC teams were better than the lower level CUSA teams. (which we blew out)

This is just by FEI, so I understand the arguments, but just as consideration:

Western Michigan 8 (gasp)
Western Kentucky 27
Toledo 35
NC State 45
Wyoming 51
Ohio 61
UTSA 68
Northern Illinois 72
USM 75
Miami (OH) 76
Mizzou 80
Ball State 91
Central Michigan 95
Bowling Green 105
UMASS 106
Charlotte 114
FAU 115
Marshall 120
FIU 125
UTEP 126

We have better stats and we should based on schedule. But, they didn't do all that hot vs. teams rated in the range that we are rated:

Wyoming won by 3
Ohio won by 7
NIU lost in OT by 7
Miami lost by 13
Mizzou lost by 40
Ball State won by 7

I think it will be pretty close.

My memory of this year's EMU is the kickoff from the Charlotte 20:

I think three deadball fouls that moved the kickoff from the EMU 35 to the Charlotte 20. At that point, you kinda HAVE to onsides it unless you want to kill one of the fans by kicking it full force into the stands.

The interesting thing is that most of us, including myself generally attribute the improved play being as a result of the defense improving. And the defense did improve a lot. But, the largest difference is the offense. The offense has made a tremendous jump from last year.

Some of us tried to make that point about our offense last year, some disagreed vehemently.

The thing was, our offense was pretty good good last year, much better than the defense. I think it was ranked around 75ish. Now, the offense took an even bigger jump up to where a lot of advanced metrics have them top 30, which the defense took a decent jump up.
